billyboy Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Saying goodbye to my Sti hatch and getting another one.Pearlescent white, anthracite alloys, privacy glass and rear Sti spoiler. But its a DIESEL! The current climate with road tax (£425) and 18 mpg is just getting beyond a joke.Diesel means £125 road tax and fifty mpg.Im going to test drive it next weekend,so we'll see what happens. Will i go for the oil burner?? Now that will be a hard desicion. Billy
paul555sti Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Wonder if Andy will offer a mapping service
billyboy Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 Wonder if Andy will offer a mapping service Ive been told that they can be re-mapped to about 180 bhp by dealers.
stum450n Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Bloody good cars are the diesels and even in the manual models, you're not up and down through the gears too much. Handling is comparative to the more standard petrol models (although a few choice mods would fix that easily enough!) Bags of torque too - give it a few years and I have a feeling they may end up being the weapon of choice over the 1/4
scooby222 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 i notice litchfields are working on a stage 2 conversion to give over 200hp! something ive thought about myself - my blobeye sti will never leave me but it only comes out on sunny days or when i need cheering up

scooby222 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 um 18's about what i get with mine Glyn - what do you get??
wrxmania Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Upper 20's most of the time in the new STI's. Can do 30+ on longer journeys without too much drama. Brian.
thewelsho Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 The best of both worlds Billy; sounds like a wise move.
paul555sti Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Just a shame they dont do one with the sti flared arches.

With all this cold weather by the time you run it and clear your windows and just running back and forward to work its 18 mpg.On todays news its reported that the £8 gallon is on its way and some mp wants to bring in petrol rationing. sti pretender Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Ian Grieve had a Diesel with the STI bumpers on a while back, I have to have a second look just to see what it was. As for MPG I get about 19 day to day and 28-30 on motorways.
billyboy Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Well went and had a look on Saturday but the one i fancied was sold. The choice of colours left were black (no thanks you can see every mark on it),silver (looked cheap) and a light metallic blue (no wr blue so no thanks). So ive still got sti at the mo.They did have a nice metalic red cossie and the road tax was £750 f.f.s.At £50k its never worth the money. Also saw saloon in the flesh.I didnt realise subaru could attach the rear of a suzuki liana instead of a hatchback. I think i'll have to look at other makes of car.
mystery machine Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 They did have a nice metalic red cossie and the road tax was £750 Eh?
wrx kenny Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 im running my new block in at the moment and also due to petrol prices , unbelievably i am getting around 35 to the gallon but that is sitting at 50 mph and yes i know that is unnatural for a scoobie to be going that slow but it can be achieved , it does make for a long boring commute from airdrie to greenock everyday kenny
Joe G Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I get about 32-34mpg on the motorway at 70mph and about 18-20mpg about the town. With the price of petrol i may also be looking to take the route of a diesel!! But then again the last time i got rid of a scoob for a more economical car it only lasted a month lol Joe
Big Gordon Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Surprised at you looking at another Scoob Billy as i know how disapointed you are with the fit and finish of your current one and the amount of warranty claims you've had mate. The price of fuel is probably what's gonna make me sell the Impreza this year, TBH the kids are getting really big and i need more space too, so big sensible diesel it is..
thebigfelly Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 already done the unthinkable and go back to a £45 a month bus pass for the 30min comute to work , savin me £200 on petrol , and just keep the scoob as a car for my days off , ocasional night out and for club meets/events already spent £450 on rear wheel area getting fixed, and about to spend £80 getting scoop resprayed ,and fitted , which is money i cant realy affoard the now
billyboy Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Eh? Yes you read it properly £750.I nearly choked when i saw it on the windscreen.
mystery machine Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Yes you read it properly £750.I nearly choked when i saw it on the windscreen. Ah, that's a new car then - the Impreza Cossie? That appalling rate applies during the first year only - and if it's already taxed for a year then the owner should never have to pay that rate (unless the thieving b*stard government move the goalposts again!).

Its a nice car but 50k?
mystery machine Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Its a nice car but 50k? Totally agree - way overpriced. I can think of umpteen cars I'd rather have if I had 50K to spend on a motor!
billyboy Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Well my relationship with Subaru's is over. The car has been moved on and will be going at some point next week.I would again like to thank Mr Cameron and his millionare cronies for this due to the taxation methods in this country. The government are complete holes.
G.Mac Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Sorry to hear that Billy, Get yourself another terzo, you know you want to! All the best Graeme
