Check engine light

Hi all. Its probably been written before.

What happened was , went to overtake a bus today which had stopped. As i was passing , all of a sudden i nearly headbutted the steering wheel. it was like the brakes had been slammed on. Went to speed up again and it started jerking badly wouldnt go over 2500k, pulled over and the revs were all over the place, and the check engine light had come on.

All fluids ok, no overheating

Does anyone know what could be wrong ??? Its a my00 uk turbo wagon

Any help would be much appreciated as its meant to be with Andy F for a remap on Tuesday 9th

Best thing to do would be to find out what has caused the light to come on.

Have you conected the 2 black plugs together which are under the dash (above the clutch) ???

If not then follow the link below which will tell you the code. Then post the code up. I am sure there will be plenty of people to give you advise on the code.

Sounds loke the maf has failed, easy to check with the plugs under the dash

sounds like dead maf mate.

had the same on friday done ecu read error and code 23.

reset and left running for 5 mins and was fine,turned off and then started it and bam same again.

new maf should be on its way

Fitted new maf today and started car - running like a dream now!!!
