wrx kenny Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 HISTORY . i bought my 2002 bugeye in 2004 , i seen richard burns driving one on the rally stages and decided there and then i wanted one , but due to other cars and commitments it had to wait . the day came 06th february 2004 i picked the keys up to my wrx i think 8000 miles and owned by rbs previously, so driven by a total banker . once i picked it up other subaru owners kept flashing and waving , always returning the gesture. At that time i lived in lenzie i kept seeing this one impreza all the time waving and flashing it eventually turned out to be HI-JAC who told me all about the club so i joined .i never got to any meets as was to busy with work , but eventually re joined about two years a go the sidc . only mods to the car at that stage were eibach springs . To be honest i knew nothing about modding an impreza the club has well and truly changed that . my car wasnt an sti nor did i want an sti look a like so i opted for an individual looking wrx , so along came a high level boot spolier , 18" team dynamics alloys , colour coded side skirts, front splitter , whiteline arb droplinks , bc coilovers, . Externaly the car is how i want it although got a zun grill front mesh kit to go on and fog light covers also waiting at home . ENGINE As a few of you know i took my car up to crail and shagged the bottom end ,there was a slight rattle which never got any worse even after glasgow and lanark runs and this years highland fling , anyway bought a second hand blob 2.0 block with 18000 miles it was put in ran for a couple of days then the crank went solid . I had bought mods to upgrade the power including 550 pinks , sti tmic , vf35 turbo and some toys forge dump valve k&n cone filter front and rear brembos etc , all a waste of time after buying a fecked block of piston heads , so basically had to start again and re think the options , new impreza or crack on wae the bug , crack on wae the bug was the outcome . so today purchased a brand new 2.5 block hopefully should be delivered soon then i can get cracking and get this car back on the road , also been thinking about eventual power i now want to get into the 400s so bigger turbo injectors will be bought ( see you sat phil) . forged bits and pieces will be bought this week as well , i will update the post as things progress and get pics as well . oh i cant wait ALL ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GLADLY ACCEPTED i want to get this car right and you lot are a mountain of knowledge kenny
scoobysailor Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 ALL ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GLADLY ACCEPTED i want to get this car right and you lot are a mountain of knowledge kenny Do all the hard work on the engine then put it in mine Best of luck with this build Kenny, lookin' forward to seeing this finished and on the road - post loads of pics. C_WRX Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Will be good to see how it all prgresses for you Kenny. Will be quite a difference going from near standard to what you'll roughly finish with - potentially almost twice as many horses !! As far as advice, I'd be no use . Suppose all I could say is the obvious of just do your homework, take your time and spend your money backed up with knowledge.
StrikE Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 This will be a good build to watch, you go Kenny. Put the best of gear into it buddy for longevity
marko72 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Bring on the monsta bug!! Looking forward to hearing how this develops m8. Seeing your bug a few times, especially when you got the bc's on was a wee inspiration to myself. Might even see you burbling by when your working down this neck of the woods. I had the zunsport front grilles put on on a few weeks back, really makes a difference I think. Will need to update my thread as well now. All the best with it!
wrx kenny Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) kenny were did you buy your block from bought the block from a company in colorado called heubergermotorsports ,i spoke to the guy that owns it way back at the beginning of the year . I did find a company that would supply a bit cheaper gruppe motorsport but in over a month of sending e mails and asking questions , the only reply i got back was what was my postal address not good in my book so went to the above company , hopefully the block should be getting shipped next wednesday at latest. Im now back home so can get on wae buying the internals wiseco is probably where ill end up , as money is tight for this car it wont be a no expense spared build , i aint in that league so slowly but surely as i need to buy a diesel for work soon, whats peoples thoughts on the WISECO forged internals before i go of purchasing as the original post said i will take on all advice and digest thanks kenny Edited September 11, 2010 by wrx kenny

Gumball Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Good read there Kenny. Sorry I cant give you advice on what to do or how cos my knowledge is limited to basic stuff regarding mods. Nothing compared to what some of these guys are doing nowadays. I guess youre going to get all the block, internals sorted out as the main project first. Then think about the stuff like injectors, fuel pump, headers, zorst, new turbo, FMIC, filter/airflow, ECU. I think my old STI was running high 300s, maybe low 400s and all I did was Injectors Headers (equal length or almost equal length) Fuel pump Oil pump Decat 49G turbo (pretty laggy and had to be worked on boost) FMIC Remap Hope this helps

badbaz Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Don't forget the corners big chap, gotta be able to stop and go round them
wrx kenny Posted September 26, 2010 Author Posted September 26, 2010 they will be coming to once the brembos have been put on fear not barry kenny
Gumball Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 (edited) good list of toys you have there ! Looks good. I remember getting mine all fitted then limping through to Edinburgh to see Andy for the map. Not worth the risk of doing anything else. Drop links front and rear Swaybar Strut braces Anti lift kit (didnt have) Tein springs Geometry again The car will handle like its on rails Edited September 26, 2010 by GUMBALL

I'd recommend a 6 speed conversion if you are aiming for anything over 400lbft of torque. Cheers Alistair

Cheers Alistair on a sensible note the 321 and 6 speed box will more and likely have to wait till next year , thought that combination would trash the box pretty quick, youve confirmed what i thought thanks alistair kenny
scooby222 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 going to be a hell of a motor once its all back together - you must be itching to get it done mate! so youl have it all run in and at full power for next years highland fling then?
