Oppinions Please

A lil question for u guys first up motors a 53 plate blob eye wrx with ppp. 2nd need a new centre and third decat my fault really done it at work driving onto the ramp. Anyways thinking of changing the up pipe aswell in the process honest oppinions please will I req a remap? I'm already in the process of acquiring various bits b4 it gets done tho oh just to add I'll be keeping the standard down pipe for the maen time if that makes any difference.

What was the downpipe on ppp, was it sportscatted ? If so then that's okay to keep. If not look in to changing that if you're going to the bother of changing you up-pipe.

If you change your up-pipe then yes you'd better get it remapped. A few choices available. If you are going to get it remapped then your worth while having had some other bits-n-bobs added to make it worth while. Get the up-pipe wrapped as well.

If changing the 2nd cat and centre section then you'll want the size to match in with your backbox (guessing 2.5"). Loads to chose from or as is getting ever more popular get some pipe work made for it. I have a spare decat or centre section pipe somewhere, can't remember which one it is though, Scoobyworld Afterburner range if I remember right.

Look out in for sale section here and SNet for 2nd hand also, usually some exhaust bits about.

More than 1 way to go about the changes you mentioned, my notes are just along the lines of what I did with my Blob WRX.

yeh you`ll need a remap if your de-catting, wrx had standard cat in downpipe even with ppp

so happens ill have a brand new decat up pipe stainless steel with a flexi joint is coming with my my full system but i don`t need it.

was just going to sell it for bout 30 quid and im in falkirk.

get a open mouth de-cat down pipe bud and de-cat up pipe an uprated fuel pump and a panel filter PFR7B plugs too if you wish

the diff is amazing with a Andy F remap to top it off mine made 285horses and 300 torque

think id made more torque due to my exhaust set up 3inch straight through sounded fantastic.

Your WRX PPP pack does not change the downpipe cat which is also restrictive. It all depends what your goals are. If want a responsive fast road car while keeping the TD04 then I would suggest changing the Downpipe for a Prodrive sports cat, preferably a later one from an 04+ STI PPP which has the integrated heat shield, this will keep the car MOT friendly and produce almost as much power as a full decat. Change the uppipe for a standard classic or STI uppipe with standard heat shields they work well in this set up and can be picked up for buttons. I personally would not fit an uppipe with a flexi joint as they are prone to failure. You have an EGT sensor in your current uppipe which is essentially a cat on fire sensor. This will be removed. It will give a CEL light unless you put a 2.2K ohm resisitor across the plug once the sensor is removed. This fools the ECU by giving a signal which is proportional to a safe operating temp.

As previouslt stated you will need a remap if you decat the uppipe.

I had my up pipe made at Meercat. Think you call it a slip joint?

Two piece thing that only bolts on at each end.

Makes a tight seal when it warms up or something?

No issues anyway!

well plans for list of parts are?

1.up pipe

2.down pipe sports cat type

3.3rd decat and centre :rolleyes:

4.panel filter

5.sti pink injectors or equivalent

6.uprated fuel pump

7.some pfr7b's

8.intercooler, top mount or front aint decided on that yet

9.remap

think that little lot should make a bit of difference, oh aye and some new discs and pads,tyres,and a big service lol :brickwall:

Chris, you can get a sportcat downpipe which combines the downpipe with the 3rd cat so, no need to get a seperate one! and the price os about the same as just a sportcat dp

Meercat or C&C make them or I could get one made up for you. My mate Paul has fabricated a good few for people on here, Downpipes, centre section, back boxes, strut braces etc.....

ill certainly keep that in mind thanks for the offer. first up is tyres,brakes,and a good ol service then its time for the fun stuff :brickwall:

can sell you a complete exhaust system including the third dract to back box for 175 pounds

brand new, never used scorpion system for a newage

Is that so could you give me a run down on what there is ie down pipe,decat,centre,rear box ??? Cheers chris o'
