Whats the best make? Ohlins AST KW

For the hatch obviously & where to get them folks :(

many thanks

Del

KW is best IMHO. They last, they're NOT japanese, and they're progressive. Ohlins cost a bomb. AST ain't progressive.

hmmm ohlins are expensive but i believe very good - what about exe-tec? as used by several rally teams and made in the uk

expensive again but i know how well paid moderators are, Del can afford it..... :(

second vote for KW's, they're very well put together and they last have had a set of variant 1's on my fiestas they do variant 3's but they also do 2-ways and 3 ways etc best way to do it is to buy them direct dealt with a guy called alan hook myself and he sorted me out a set next day dispatch :(

Bilstien, Ohlins and Showa do good std replacements, need to source from Japan as they were options on the JDM STI

Exe-tc for the best in the business but cost accordingly and available easy enough in the UK

KW are the best bang for buck option

Also fit some thicker roll bars to stop the QE2 feeling that will hold back any strut upgrade you may decide on

Hi Del

I had the previlige of being out it a few very quick cars yesterday at Kames!! I was pax in Graeme from whitelines car fitted with KW v3 and the obligitary whiteline roll bars etc.... it was fantastic no understeer no oversteer unless provoked :( The coilovers as said are not the ultimate but it's the set up!!!

Thats again folks as ever, pity i couldn't make Kames yesterday sounds like a few cars getting track time i would have loved to pax/talk about.

Front/rear arbs are getting done along with a few other suspension goodies probably Perrin coz i like the colour :-).

I was going down the road [no pun] of just fitting lowering/uprated springs but after having a pax in a few cars with coilovers i can plainly see the difference!

@ Grant the Hatch like the QE2 is a luxury vehicle, the new classic of the future and it's the way forward :D

I see revolution do the KW 3 coilovers too, handy :(

Its debateable if the premium you pay for the Perrin bars being powder coated is worth it. Why not get the Whiteline bars from Graeme and paint them red, will end up cheaper :P

The perrin drop links on the face of it seem better than the whiteline items as they have spherical bushes but having had them on the RA which does virtually no road miles I found the bearings very quickly siezed so I removed them, I definately wouldnt fit them to a road car in this country.

See now that's why it's important to ask questions, i thought as other probably have that the spherical bushes with the Perrin drop links would be superior to whiteline! My car does very limited mileage also.

Thanks Arch :P

Information is powerful folks, keep it coming with any experiences or ideas.
