Hi mate sorry to hear about your car woes, but I have to disagree about the service at Ian Grieves I recently traded in there and the all they guys eg Adam and Gav and even John who has now retired bent over backwards to help me and service my needs and i'll be going back. the four or 5 times ive been at the garage ive seen a few familiar plates of sidc members there so that speaks for itself. They even gave me a few nuts and bolts for nowt that i was desperate for my series mcrae project that were proving very hard to get so i cant complain. maybe you have just been unlucky with your car or it sounds like its had a very hard life in the past. anyway that just my opinion and experience hope you get it all sorted out tho

Well i never iv used Grieve`s for 5 years now and they are superb never had bother and they are proper enthusiats

Did you actually got back to them for help with the car as im sure they would do all they can to help you.

Scoobyseller (Gav)

comes on here so sure he`ll see it.

Never really hear a bad word bout them before.

Ian Grieve SUbaru are top Boys (and a couple cheeky ladies lol)

:D I started to use Ian Grieves because I wasn't overly happy with the service I received at another garage. All the time I have used Grieves they have been absolutely top class.

Very helpful, very knowledgeable, cheaper than others.... Gav in sales and Charlie in service (as well as others) are both top class and I would buy/have a car serviced by them any day of the week.

I bought my second STI (privately) and the struts were done. I phone my usual garage and was quoted £340+vat each - (not fitted). So I phoned Charlie (never met him before) and instantly he told me he'd change them both for something around the £600 ballpark.

Sorry if you have bought a knackered car, but no complaints about Grieve's here. :(

but they are giving scoobies a bad name..

On the contrary..... Gav has had (I believe) something in the region of 17 Scoobies over the years... I'd say that is giving Scoobys a GOOD name. :(

Sounds like you bought a lemon, did Grieves not say anything about the fact that you brought the car back a month after changing the last clutch?

I have used Grieves a few times in the past 5 to 6 years since I had my last impreza and now since my brother in law had his P1 which I helped him maintain. I have found them very helpful in the parts department, although I have only used them once for the service department, to get the P1 keycode reset, they were decent enough and all the staff seemed really helpfull anytime I've been in.

Sorry to hear you have been so badly stung but surely some alarm bells rang when you had to replace the clutch in the space of a month? If you have not already done so I would suggest going back to Grieves and give them the opportunity to put things right?

Just my humble opinion.

I think it sounds like you have shafted yourself, why would you have to pay for a shock when you would have a Subaru Proven warranty that covers shocks without problem,3 clutches in 13 weeks??????oh and a knackered diff that surely if its eating clutches at that rate you would of heard or 1 of the 3 Subaru qualified techs they have would have noticed!!!!!Could it be the way you are treating the car??????there are always two sides to a story and i don't believe that you would be hit for these costs unless there was a reason behind it.

I have used them since they opened and have never had any issues with them,i will ask 1 of the guys and find out what the script is.

Ouch!!! ;)

Was that you finding out the hard way that RE070's are shoit in the wet?

Yeah..... 3 lessons learned that day..

(1) REO-70s aren't fans of slush and freezing temperatures..

(2) When your Girlfriend tells you "you're getting too cocky" it's probably because you are..

(3) Fenced central reservations can 'collect' a car fairly well - especially when you hit a main post..

We live and learn....

Cheers mate but that was back in 2007 so the pain has subsided. The hardest thing about it was that car was a pure minter, solid as a rock, and unbelievably rapid (as standard). I've had 3 Scoobys but I probably miss that one the most. Had a painful couple of months while the insurance sorted it out and then bought the first one I found when I got the money, and regretted it because the one I got (seemingly identical car) wasn't fit to be on the same road as my first one!

As for herself, I just said "no I'm not"..... followed 3 or 4 minutes later by an attempted powerslide off a roundabout, followed by a close look at the fence and a touch of whiplash for her! After that she wouldn't have dared rub it in because she knew what it meant to me. She does come up with a few smart comments these days right enough!!!! The bad thing about it was after that she was scared of my Scoobys and didn't like it when I was driving fast.. whereas before I wrecked that one she liked it.. Ah well...

lol remember a similar experience powersliding / trying too in my modded 1.2 corsa back in my youth on a long uphill right bend in the rain, result was me sliding off the road and smashing into a wall at 50mph , result my car was about 3 - 4 foot shorter in the front, and the front of the car started at the windsheild complete rite off, wasnt even a mark left on the wall didnt help that behind the wall the ground level was about 3 qauters of the way up it so was prety solid , think hitting a tank would have been softer,

tell you what though one of the best adrenalin rushes ive had like , especialy as no one was injured , only thing thats probably been better was being a passenger and having one of the knockhill instructors think its the guy whos a touring racer driving me round knockhill at high speed all the while looking at me in the face and chatin away barely looking where hes going crazy as hell but the smile on my face said it all.

bonus if the gf doesnt like the scoobs , saves the weight increases the power to weight ratio if shes no extra bagage in the car result youl go faster and save petrol carrying less weight haha

Sounds like you found out the hard way why you can't powerslide a front-wheel drive car around a corner! 'Power-plough' straight on, perhaps...

I can't talk - way back, I learned a tough lesson in my front-drive Cavalier about the perils of inducing lift-off oversteer on a wet roundabout... car was one wheel drive by the time I'd finished spinning around! :)

Cant fault Subaru Camelon at all, replaced both rear struts, lambda sensor and other various bits and pieces under warranty, the guys are really firendly and really do try to help you how they can, I will continue to use them. :)
