terzo neil Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 where can i get a spare engine block cleaned prior to rebuilding it to my spec cleaned like gmac's chemically cleaned blocjk halves in glasgow or surrounding area
flat4phil Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 How about trying one of the many powder coat peeps, as they use acid dipping to ensure metal is totally degreased and squeaky clean before that can coat it?

If you're going down that route then vinegar is much easier to get hold of and a fair bit cheaper too. http://www.cookhaus.co.uk/vinegar/index.htm
Jon B Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 acetone aint too dear works out at £32 odds + vat for a 5 gallon drum which would more than enough...... cfs.net And at the same time you're guaranteed consistent results with it, as well as obviously being able to reuse it.
