Nurburgring Hire Cars

Recommended Posts

I am just wondering if anyone has gone to the nurburgring and hired cars for the track.

i have been doing a bit of digging and i can get clio cups on the first day for 750 euros and megane r26r for the next day for about 1000euros. for 10 laps and there is 4 of us planning to go so can have 2 drivers per car and 5 laps each with each extra lap being 90 euros. these prices incude fuel, lap tickets, insurance etc. the track insurance excess is 5k euros though so plan not to bin it

i am just wondering if anyone has done it and was it worth it.

hi there,

we hired a clio cup for half a day from RSR and got 6 laps and helmets for roughly £450 i think it was. The cars were very clean and the guys were very helpful. To be honest when we go back next year i will be putting my own car back on the ring as it is so much cheapper to do. I was the same in terms of what happens if i crash etc but once you do it you see how well everyone respects the track and as long as you stay within your driving capabilities then it should be ok. It is tempting to plant the foot flat to the floor but once you hit the first bend you soon realise that your crazy to think that. I took the focus out in the pouring rain which everyone will tell you is crazy and survived it. Only drawback about hiring a car is that if it rains you still need to go out and if the track gets closed for any reason there is no refund either. We went with a company called nurburgringuk.com and would recommend. Dino organises the whole thing from ferry passes to accommodation. He has lots of local knowledge and even takes you out for sighting laps in his car as many times as you want. Give him a shout and tell him i put you in touch. We priced doing it oursleves and weren't much cheaper and going with Dino got us discount on souvenirs and also got to meet people and was able to socialise with them as well. One thing you need to do is get a steak on a stone from Sabine Schmitz hotel it is awesome.

about half the cars on track are hire cars these days clios swifts golfs sciroccos porsches alfas

just back on monday from the ring and a few lads had hired from rsr for a half day then the track was shut at about 2pm for the rest of the day after they got one lap (bad crash 6 + cars) and the said they got most of there money back

think the insurance excess is not good a bad off could cost £10000 plus ie amco car damage track being shut etc etc

steak on a stone ........................was lovely

dont want to put you off ;)

hope it helps

this is one of those things that you have to just take the plunge and do. I was very cautious when initially booking our trip as i had read all the horror stories re costs and opted for the RSR hire car and when over there and did the hire car thing i then got over the fear and took my own car on track. Everyone there seemed to have a great respect for the track and we felt 100% safe. I guess there is always the chance that you will get one idiot taking a risk but you get that anywhere. The good thing about going via nurburgringuk.com is that you can get in passenger laps with either Dino or other folk on the trip and get comfortable with the track and then decide whether to hire a car or go on track on your own car. Only drawback is that if you don't hire a car prior to going you can end up only getting a choice of a porsche or something expensive. We loved it som uch we are going back next year.
