thebigfelly Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) just considering either getting the ppp put in the car or an upgrade from andy forrester, wonder what people would recomend, or sudjest. price, value for money, gain in power, overall preformance increase, fuel costs, any help would be great folks, its an 03plate no warrenty Edited May 21, 2010 by thebigfelly
Spaceman Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 if in warranty the prodrive keeps it if out you will get much better results from Andy as its a tailored map instead of a generic one. Andy F map is the dangles.
sti pretender Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I we the prodrive route purely for warranty, you'll get a better map and more power using Andy F. Also good if you plan on modding the car further.
lewisscoob Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 How much is it to get PPP on your car? I would go with Andy all day long over PPP. You dont get switchable maps from PPP...

craigdmcd Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Contact Duncan at Hypertech, and he can give several options including an EcuTek remap
rig-pig Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 mine has the ppp and im going to get a AF remap next, i would go for the AF remap m8
G.Mac Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I know when I got mine the PPP was 2K, didnt bother and within 6 months had it maped by Andy. Meercat full decat exhaust 550 G spec 2 headers 500ish Bosch 255 lph fuel pump 180 (that was fitted price and pump still going strong 5 yrs later and was still flowing enough when the car was running 450 bhp) AFP remap 550 + Vat = 646 So for 1876 you would have much better power, torque, reponce and fuel economy that PPP,

lewisscoob Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) There is also a group buy on for Andy at the moment so you could also save yourself some more cash. Is your car a WRX or STI? Personally, with the money you are talking, I would be doing the following: fuel pump (walbro or bosch) performance panel filter uprated plugs Complete decat/sports cat exhaust wrapped or coated, ported std headers and up pipe Andy F remap with switchable maps These will help you with rough power figures... If WRX http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/58901.html If STI http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/58932.html Just my opinion. Edited May 21, 2010 by LewisScoob
colin_ross Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Add in an sti air filter and you're running a very decent stage one and will amost certainly make more power than PPP. You'd also have an ecutek licence meaning future mapping is much cheaper, this is more of an issue if you see yourself making future modifications. Do you know how far you'd like to go? As has already been stated the PPP is a one size fits all map and therefore is a compromises, a map from Andy will bespoke and get the best from the car.

Spaceman Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 what model and year of car have you got bud that will help get a clearer answer on costs
G.Mac Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Yea I forgot about the plugs. Heres a no bad wee post on the ported v's GT spec 2 headers ideas "Andy.F Subaru Tuning Specialist Trader Score: (0) Join Date: Jun 2002 Location: Worlds fastest Impreza 210.2mph 8.87@164 1/4mile. 2009 Scoobysprint road class championship winners. Default Ricky, if you are looking for the best torque and BHP from your car then forget about ported headers, you will not make the same bhp although torque may be similar. Here is a link to a car of exactly the same age and model as yours, running GT spec 2 headers. I've never seen VF35's do anywhere near this on cast headers. A lot of the ported header promotion on here lately has been of suspicious origin http://bbs.scoobynet.com/private-sal...i-type-uk.html Andy.F is offline Report Post Reply With Quote Multi-Quote This Message" taken from this thread http://bbs.scoobynet.com/general-technical...ii-headers.html (was funny as this was the first result when I googled GT spec 2 headers when I was looking for a price to put in my reply) Graeme ps when I was running 370 bhp I was actually using the same if not slightly less fuel than on the standard Subaru map Edited May 21, 2010 by G.Mac
colin_ross Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 as its standard the now , but just to up the top speed a little and give it more accelaration of the line, and so it picks up speed alot quicker None of this will up the top speed of the car at all, that is limited by your gearing and how many revs your engine can handle which will not change with these mods. What you will do is get there quicker and the car will be more responsive to drive.
Phil MC Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Especially as it's a newage STi then Andy Forrest is the way I'd go. Your TMIC is good for at least 400bhp, your gearbox will do for up to 600?? So at least if you go to around 340bhp on your existing setup, but with a panel filter and decat downpipe you'll be laughing, and so ready for your next upgrade upgrade of the turbo and injectors . (Only rough figures off the top of my head).
kennyuk300 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I have th PPP on my car ,it's soon to get th AF treatment Kenny

Spaceman Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 easy full decat ( or sportcat if you prefer) from turbo, walbro fuel pump, uprated plugs, and a new pannel filter and Andy f remap and it will fly and pull so well bud member and not hold the car at high speeds though as in 100mph> as the TMIC starts to struggle and you can cook it, as the air starts to flow over the scoop instead of into it.

Spaceman Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 can`t remember the precise speeds but the tmic don`t like 000 digit speeds for prolonged time gets very hot under there, more people in the know will explain better im sure .
