Neil82 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Does any have any info or know the history of this STi? (Ebay Item 270572224059) Thanks in advance Neil
Neil82 Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Oh and is there anything major I should be checking the car out for, any known things that go wrong with this model? Cheers Neil
paul555sti Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) IT doesnt have a light weight boot and roof for a start it looks pretty rusty under the bonnet as well. Edited May 7, 2010 by paul555sti
lewisscoob Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 ^^^what he said Also, this is a contradiction in terms as far as im concerned. "A SERIOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY HAS BEEN SPENT ON THIS CAR. ALL IT NEED IS DISCS AND PADS AS THESE ARE WARPED, SCORED AND PITTED BUT DO WORK " Why would you try selling a car that has knackered brakes? If you have spent heaps on a car why not sort the brakes?! I wouldnt be touching it myself.
Phil MC Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Or at least I'd be very wary of a list of other things needing attention if he's not bothered his @rse even getting the brakes up to scratch before selling it .
thefastone Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Is it normal to DEMAND a £100 deposit as soon as the auction ends, even though you haven't seen the car yet?
paul555sti Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Is it normal to DEMAND a £100 deposit as soon as the auction ends, even though you haven't seen the car yet? It happens quite a bit on ebay mate, i think it is to stop time wasters.
TrackScotland Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Is it normal to DEMAND a £100 deposit as soon as the auction ends, even though you haven't seen the car yet? you are supposed to see the car BEFORE bidding! You bid to BUY not VIEW.
KGB Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I know of the car mate, was an insurance write off around 7 years ago, not sure if current owner knows that and has 'forgotten' to mention it or simply doesn't know. Having said that the car was properly repaired but i'm led to believe it's had some not so careful owners since, last one blew the engine and sold it that way as he couldn't afford to fix it. But as has been said above, knackered brakes, faded paint and the rear arches getting scruffy, it ain't worth the asking price imo. It was an impressive performing car 7 years ago though! Cheers.
Neil82 Posted May 11, 2010 Author Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) Hi, My pal bought the car in the end but for no where near that asking price, we knew it was a CAT D (owner claimed he didnt know) car has had a version 6 engine installed (so he said anyway) and was RR today at 290 HP and is running spot on. KGB, what sort of damage was it CAT D'd for? Cheers for the posts. Neil Edited May 11, 2010 by Neil82

Noticed it was up for sale soon after, did it sell? Car has been written off again, wondered whether it had any known faults prior to it's latest accident? Cheers.
