Help! Many Thoughts Needed!

A quick bump to freshen up this post - my flight to the UK has been confirmed (20th August 2010).

The only sad news is my STi has been sold; in fact, it was sold within 3 hours after my advertisement went online. And to worsen my temporary pessimistic attitude: I am still caught up with insurance quotes that would violently break an arm and a leg. I have not secured an accommodation in Fife simply because it is very difficult to rent a house which has a garage! It is rather preposterous to put garage on the top of the list and use it as the main criteria in finding an ideal house. However, I was convinced this is the only method to reduce insurance costs. On a side note, I had asked my insurance company (based in Bangkok) to issue a NCB statement and I pray this can be put to good use in the UK.

I really need to get in touch with an insurer who is able to provide a bespoke quote which fits my circumstances.

Cheers

PS. I had received additional budget from selling the scoobie and may be looking into Boxster 987 S (2005).

Hi mate,

Try 'Admiral' or 'Elephant' (they are part of the same group). I've always used Admiral for the Scoobies and they were easily the cheapest, plus a very good company to deal with.

Cheers,

Mark

PS - That white Scooby of yours is AWESOME!! Such a shame you can't bring that across...

Cheers mate, appreciate it. ;)

I gave Admiral a try via online quote and was forced to choose comprehensive option (4400 quid) for 987 Boxster S. I will stick with Third party fire and theft and this should hopefully meet my limited budget of 3000 pounds :P.

Hi Impreza Noobie,

How long will you be in St A's for?

Have you considered an older classic Impreza?

This will reduce your insurance premium.

Also try Chriss Knott insurance for a quote, they are a broker who specialise in specialist cars.

Good luck with your search.

Try Gary Moulson at 'Keith Michaels' insurance. Lots of people use them and see to be good, especially for Scoobs. Do a search on one of the forums and you should dig up the details easily enough... If it's for the Porsche then there might be other/better alternatives.

I really wouldn't recommend 3rd party only but it's your choice!!

To be honest it's usually the general area (postcode) and NCB that brings the quote down.. A garage will help as well but maybe not enough to offset how much extra you will be paying for a house with a garage!

Good luck!
