colin_ross Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Bear in mind that the R has a short ratio Jap Box only designed to reach 112mph, while the cossie will be geared to at least 155mph, probably higher! My short ratio box was good for over 155 (video evidence available) and remember they actually slow you down on the quarter mile as you need an extra shift. On uk gearing a type r would beat the cossie on the strip no bother but I was talking about a standard car. Anyway back on topic - Cossie = No thanks.
RS Grant Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I'm drunk, but 50k for an Impreza is tits. No matter which way you look at it. Cheers Grant
gus the bus Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) I see that Ford are bringing out a Focus RS500 At £35k a much better proposition. (not that I can afford one ) Edited April 2, 2010 by Gus the Bus
Ovv Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I see that Ford are bringing out a Focus RS500 At £35k a much better proposition. (not that I can afford one ) One of my mates just bought a RS, 28k. Now he is thinking about the manufacturers remap, 2k. So all in all, he spends 30k and walks away with 360bhp. I think I would rather follow in his footsteps not that I can afford one either.
mystery machine Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 50K... almost as much as a new V8 M3...? Guess you'd have to be a real Impreza fanatic...

Depends what you want it for I suppose, a few of the guys on Passionford have ordered these RS500s and I'm guessing that they're going to hold onto them for a while.. I guess they have seen what happened with the previous limited run RS500 (Sierra Cosworth Based in 1987) and think that the same will happen here in the future. A mint version of a 3dr Cosworth would cost 15k max, where as an equally mint version of a Sierra RS500 would cost 25k minimum. Essentially (if both standard) they put out nearly the same figures and save a couple of small styling tweaks, look identical, but the value on the RS500 has stayed really strong. I'm not suggesting that this Focus RS500 will become as iconic as the Sierra RS500 (I don't think it'll be anywhere near as dominant in motorsport for a kick off..) but being a limited run with the RS500 badge, it could become a bit of a depreciation dodger. IF.. I found myself in the market for a Focus RS, then I'd be going for a 'normal' version and getting the Mountune Package fitted. I dont hold onto cars long enough to be concerned about long term desireability like a hardcore enthusiast for the brand would. Cheers, Grant
