mystery machine Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Cheers mate but i think i'll have a wee go with the hair dryer or heat gun myself. Och aye, removing the film is easy enough - getting rid of the adhesive residue takes a wee bit longer. TBH, it's the kind of thing I'd usually try myself... just a bit precious about the STI
wulsey Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 Heres a few pics of what ive been up to so far. Full inside valet . New look front end with new crystal sidelights, crystal indicators, fog covers, grill badge & lower vents painted black. Wheel done in black with new Toyo T1r's fitted & STI carbon fibre centre caps & front tints removed. New Flaps with Type R logos. New drill& grooved discs to be fitted with Kevlar fast road pads & Hel braided hoses & 5.1 brake fulid , painted calipers still waiting on the rear disc as they are hard to come by cause they have a 190mm handbrake bore & not the standard 160mm. Some new engine bling, few more to follow. Some more new bits. Cant wait till shes back on the road & then its off to the body shop.
tommo9375 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Didn't think it would take you long to start on her -Barry, great bits added so far -is that discs/pads from Godspeed.brakes group buy by any chance? Have been looking at them myself .

wulsey Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) Wee up date on this as a few of you have been asking how its going. Well as it stands the now the car has had the under side, wheel arches & in behind the front & rear bumpers stripped & fully under sealed & wax oiled, all rust taken care of & any dents or dings taken out , and she's now fully primed ready for painting. So hopefully she should be ready in the next few weeks. Been gathering a few more goodies for her in the mean time. Defi controller, boost , oil temp & pressure gauges , triple dash pod, Eibach P1 lowering springs, Samco hoses, OMP wrc steering wheel & boss kit, Ive also ordered a set of these bad boys from the USA. Rota formula mesh. Just cant wait to get her back on the road as ive missed so much this year. Edited August 17, 2010 by wulsey

wulsey Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 Wee update. Well last weekend was the first real chance of getting the car into booth to get painted. Saturday went fine as we flatted all the primier & got it ready for paint only to find some wee pin holes in the fiber glass panels, so we got them all filled & sorted out & got another coat of primier onto her. Then on sunday morning the car was removed from the booth & flatted once again & all cleaned down and ready for paint But as i started the car to put her back in the booth my mate spotted fuel leaking form underneath the car. Turns out that a fuel pipe has split & the ended my chances of getting it painted as we couldnt take the chance of baking her after painting with all the petrol fumes. Replaced all the fuel lines on tues night ready for painting today & finally got some paint on the type r today. pics are a bit small as they were took with a phone. Just the doors, bonnet, boot lid & bumpers to go then i'll be able to put her back together again.
colin_ross Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Looks amazing. Almost tempted to follow your lead.
wrx kenny Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 looking really good its a long time without your car, sure it will all be worth the wait kenny
wulsey Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 Thanks guys. It has been a long time without the car but im more than sure it will be worth it in the end. I was down this afternoon to see it getting wet sanded & buffed/polished & im more than happy with the finish on the paint. Couple of bigger pics from today. Think the colour works well with the wide body kit. Just cant wait to see her all built up.
scooby222 Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 looks amazing, like you i cant wait to see when shes all finished - definitely a worthy successor to the white bug!
