wulsey Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Heres a few pics of my new project V6 STI Type R ,after a quick clean today. To do list is 1. New brake discs, pads, braided hoses & dot5 fluid. 2. Change the engine, gearbox & diff oils, oil filter & fuel filter. 3. Change the wheel colour(unsure what colour to go for) & fit new tyres all round. 4. Fit New fog covers & headlight washer jets. 5. MOT & Tax end of march. 6. Sort out the bodywork ie rusty rear arches.
stev555 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 looks good mate, i think your wheels look good as they are. steven
euan_r Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 aye, you got a good bargain there. i was half tempted but have a few too many as is. is it no a v5 though? as rear spolier has have the raised lip or the v6 splitter which may have been lost in its past. dont think theres much difference anyway apart from slightly longer 5th.

C_WRX Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Looks very nice Barry. You always seem to put together a car that turns heads - this is a great starting point so when it comes to wheel decision etc I'm sure you'll get it right (not putting any pressure on you or nothing !! ). Look forward to seeing its progress....and welcome back...again !
pmacFTO Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Very nice, I always loved that colour after seeing my first RB5 - I am back in a Scoob but it's a GX I really want a turbo again. Anyway glad to see someone is back in the fold again

mystery machine Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Yip i bought a hawkeye sti at the backend of last year but saddly had to sell it in january due to family commitments. Aaaah.... thought that was you, Barry. The new motor is nice - got to love a 3-door classic And that white bug of yours was an absolute stunner
mystery machine Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 P.S. IMHO - the rear tints don't suit that car - kind of messes with the clean 3-door look a bit... JMO. Wheels are braw

JMO.Wheels are braw Im going to be taking the tints out if i can The fronts are tinted to but i just dont like the tinted look. As for the wheels im thinking black cause iv had black on my last 2 scoobs. OR Gunmetal White. Edited March 8, 2010 by wulsey
mystery machine Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 It'll look all the better for it, Barry. If your Bug is anything to go by then I'm looking forward to seeing the results of some tasteful Wulsey treatment
mystery machine Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Might be a bit far for you to travel, but this guy did a fine job of removing some tints from my windows: http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtop...t&p=1346527
wulsey Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 Cheers mate but i think i'll have a wee go with the hair dryer or heat gun myself.
colin_ross Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Very, very nice. Couple of point though.... No headlamp wash on the jdm's thats not the original bumper I think the glass it tinted on the type r's, not a film added to them. Could be mistaken though. If in any doubt whether it's a 5 or a 6 then try to start it without pressing the clutch down. If it does it's a 5 or a 6 with an aftermarket ecu. One of the other telltails would have been the front splitter but as the bumper has been changed......

One of the other telltails would have been the front splitter but as the bumper has been changed...... The front bumper has been replaced due to a minor shunt & i think it may well be a V5 as it seem to have the shorter 5th gear eg at 70mph its sitting at 3.5k revs & it also starts without my foot on the clutch. Thanks for the advise. Edited March 8, 2010 by wulsey
tommo9375 Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Gunmetal alloys gets my vote Barry - enjoy your classic mate it looks the biz already.
