Hi guys,

In a change to our regular time slot for meets and based on the feedback from the recent poll, we've decided to see how an evening meet would go...

So, I'm pleased to say that our next monthly meet will be on Sunday 7th February 2010 from 6:30pm onwards, at the Kings Arms (Harvester) at Kidlington.

What about Antiques Roadshow? Perhaps Matty can bring his Bug along, get Hugh Scully to value it!

Ill look at my diary, get back to you.

Sorry not to get back to you guys, Ill be there as long as I have my car back from Cotswolds. Long story, Ill explain sometime!

I have a black belt grading during that day in Malmesbury so should be back in time, hopefully with no broken bones or bruises.

Couple of points to note following a visit tonight

1) Early Bird prices end at 6:30pm & restaurant was heaving until then

2) Car Park was packed until about 7pm

3) Food as always was excellent

Deceided our other car needed a good run to clear the cobwebs & charge the battery hence a 60mile round trip for dinner.

Will need to leave by about 8:30 though

I wish this was a Friday Night or a Sunday Lunchtime as we have an ongoing date on Sunday Nights

I know if you guys could make it you would

It was more a point that I have tried to get the views of the members to see what suited them best and use that info to host a meet on a new day/time etc an it seems to have been a total waste of time.

Please remember guys you can only get something out of this club if you put something in, Oxon has the potential to be a huge club due to the sheer numbers of owners around but yet we fall flat on our faces even on simple monthly meets.

I dont want to hear its the time of year rubbish either as it seems to have no reall effect as to the strength of numbers attending.

Iain,

Maybe the meet should switch back to Sundays as those of us with families can bring the young 'uns along ( 6:30 start is a bit late for George) & maybe when the weathers as bit better doing some different activities again (Bowling etc...)

You & Stu do a great job don't get disheartened, as you say you only get out of the club what you put in.

See You Sunday

Andy

Ps Glad its dark for this one My Scoobs looking minging at the mo & I don't think I'll get chance to clean it

Andy, to be completely honest mate, I agree wholeheartedly BUT, we asked in a separate thread what everyone wanted and this seemed the only viable weekend evening - can you imagine the flaming Iain and I would get if we suggested a Friday or Saturday night!

Like I said, it's only to see how things go and judging by the masses of names on the list to attend so far, I can't see it being a regular arrangement tbh - saying that, it's not my call but I'm sure between Iain and I we can keep you all posted! :D

Just to confirm this will be the only main evening meet we do in the near future, the next meet was based on feedback you guys gave so I am sorry if it is not to everyones liking but it was not my choice.

a reminder of Iain's poll ( and the results) http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?&sh...e=show&st=0

Given that only 12 people voted, I suppose that implies that any meet / event is only going to be drawn from a small pool?

I doubt that it would significantly improve numbers, but is every month more than folk want to do?

Don't get too down - SIDC Bucks seems to be a total zero & the early enthusiasm in London also seems to have faded out - makes Oxon seem like a hotbed of activity

Hi Dave

The reason Bucks is dead is due to there being no real user base as they all left to create a new club.

We at one point had 30+ regular users of the forum and most of which would attend meets, ok not all at once but we would see on average 10 cars or so at each meet, I was more interested to know why there are so few using the forum now and why even less are attending meets.

Cheers Iain

what does that make Swindon then :D:lol::lol:

Iain dont get despondent.................remember when Oxford out numbered Swindon at one of our meets last year.

what about a 3 counties meet say at Newbury?
