plsteve Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) Folks, Just started this morning, a grinding noise (like metal rubbing) when I'm turning right. Only seems to happen on sharp corners of 90 degrees or so at slow speed. Or when parking etc. I hoped it was just something rubbing, but seems it could be anything from disks and pads (I have heard some rubbing when braking so assume the pads need done), to ball joints or maybe the bearings. Any advice? It's a 2005 WRX with PPP. Cheers Steve. Edited January 22, 2010 by PLSteve
Wee Jock Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Could be your driveshaft, had a similar prob turned out driveshaft gone!
StrikE Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Could be simply brake pads or wear sensor on the pads squealing on the disc m8, had that myself before.
plsteve Posted January 22, 2010 Author Posted January 22, 2010 Thanks guys, hopefully is just pads, the front right brake has been making a rubbing noise for a week or 2 under braking. Steve.
sti_steve Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 If you have mudflaps it could be them. I had the noise if turning sharp or had fat people in the car I took the flaps off and problem solved.
plsteve Posted January 22, 2010 Author Posted January 22, 2010 So turns out it was the flaps - had a look of the car at lunchtime when it was day light - The bottom of the mud guard mount was bent 90 degrees out and when the wheels were turned it was rubbing! In my defence it was dark this morning! But I do feel a bit stupid! Thanks for the help tho guys. Steve.
StrikE Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Look on the bright side m8 it's not serious & your wheel aint gonna fall off Glad we could help
thewelsho Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 What an embaressment! Next you will be putting screen wash in your coolant system like some complete a55 just did!
scouk Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 What an embaressment! Next you will be putting screen wash in your coolant system like some complete a55 just did! Maybe we shoudl start nominations for a golden cock award.. Last year I "somehow" mixed up the bottles of gear oil and brake fluid oil...Needless to say the brake fluid got a complete flush..
