braveheart Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Not Long got the car back from SW Motorsport and decided to strech the legs on the WL.. so decided to take it a small run through to the Extreme Motorsport, as i wanted a true run on the dyno to see what she was kicking out the car was mapped to 1.9 by Andy F and decided to turn it down due to weather and road conditions so just to see where she was so was turned down to 1.6 max... the results Car was Dynoed max 1.62 bar Maximum Power - Wheels 466.6 bhp @ 6,809 rpm Maximum Power- Engine 548.9 bhp @ 6,831 rpm Maximum Torque 437.0 lbft @ 6,036 rpm On the results i would say i was happy on the Graphs then Paul said the Turbo was being strangled and should of turned the boost back up to get a true result , said the car was well over the 600 if was running the 1.9 bar ... decided to keep the boost as it was as was playing safe...did question about the Torque ??? should be simlar ??will get back to you when get answer.. So looking forward to the next phase more power and more torque lol March here we come .. Skylines be aware Cheers Chris

green_goblin Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Well done Chris.....thats a great BHP result for that amount of boost!!! I agree i would have thought more torque.....but big well done mate........Beware the skylines is defo the case!!
BJM Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Holly molly (trying to keep it clean!) that's impresive. Is this your daily driver? I'd love to find out the spec.

RA Dunk Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Still on the 2.5 Dunk ... for the moment reached the ceiling on the 2.5 me thinks so time for a change soon hows your is coming along Chris For a 2.5 the torque is way down IMO, like you said you should be about equal with BHP and torque or at least not very far away from your BHP figure as for mine it isnt comming along at all got everything fitted (not by me) thing was overfuelling like a thing that overfuels alot lol suspected injectors to be iffy so sent them off and got them flow checked refitted same problem with overfueling, was spluttering and coughing and seemed to be on and off of a cylinder, no probs i though must be a problem with the spark changed coilpack, then lost all spark went on to change the leads, plugs, cam/crank sensor all fuses even swapped ECU's and the main relay and still no spark, sourced a new wiring harness the other day was going to have a go at fitting this today but dentist decided to rip one of my molars out this aftrnoon so kind of lost the urge lol failing the wiring harness im well and truely fiucked!

Hey Dunk not good news at all modding can be a kick in the baxxs indeed, hope you get to the bottom of the problem mate, i had to change my coil pack and change the wiring harness on mines due to the spark being blown out since then spot on.. hope thats the problem SW just recently fitted mines maby give him a buzz to point you in the right direction hope you sort it soon. mikeyb13 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) So thats how I struggled to keep up in my wee Hairdresser car. 500+ bhp is so chavy LOL. Fingers crossed 250bhp for me in March ill be happy to break 13 secs Edited December 19, 2009 by mikeyb13

andrew_forrest Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 The torque seems normal enough for 1.6 bar of boost on non AVCS heads. A 2.5 Sti, even with the benefit of AVCS on its original turbo would be no where near this torque at 1.6 bar and neither would a 2.0 !! The car was mapped safely to 1.9 bar. At this boost level, with the safety levels I used, I would expect to see just under 500lbft . I held it down to this level as I consider it is pushing close to the limits of the standard EJ257 blocks thin liners. The fact it made circa 550bhp on the low boost is a bonus. I estimated this would be the output from the full boost setting but then we know that all dynos differ. Anything approaching 600bhp on the std 2.5 block is not what I would recommend....... ideal for the snow though cheers Andy

colin_ross Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Andy - does this mean your ar$edyno may be in need of recalibration? I've heard Wilky has looked at a few in his time so may be able to help you out.
