i have a problem with my new f1 stage 2 clutch, wunderd if any one had any ideas. put the new clutch in about 2 weeks ago, ajusted the pedal and every thing was fine. was heading up to the meet on thursday and stopped of at mcds, setting off again the clutch slipped loads, tried adjusting the pedal again but nothing so decided to limp it home, got off the boat in dunoon and everything was fine again, took it 4 a drive to day and all was fine untill i stopped for about 20 mins then it slipped a wee bit then fine again. this happend again later on aswell, few people have suggested it could b sticking bearing or plate, or oil leaking on to clutch sumhow, any suggestions would be much appreceated as i'm stumped.

thanks

I had the same problem with the RA, last Glasgow meet I was sure it was slipping on the way home & never did it again, coming back from Crail it started slipping again a couple of times, took it out with Dunc from Hypertech for a blast & car was good as gold,

This clutch has only covered 5,000 mls flywheel was lightened as well, Dunc adjusted the clutch as it was only biting on the last bit of the pedal & hasn't slipped since, it could be as you said a sticky bearing or oil on the clutch it only happened when mine was hot.

How did you adjust the pedal? Do you mean bled the clutch?

Did you torque the pressure plate bolts? Also did you run the clutch in?

Just a couple of suggestions for ya.

I never touched the pressure plate bolts when i did mine and never been an issue.

I bedded it in by just driving normally for a few 100 miles and then did a couple of full bore launches slipping the clutch slightly and it has never missed a beat since.

As for oil on the clutch? Is oil leaking out the bell housing at the bottom the car?

you need to take presure plate bolts out to change the clutch or is it other bolts your meaning. We just tightend the bolts up, didnt torque them. i will check for oil coming out the bellhousing 2moro, havent noticd any on the floor though.

ajusted the clutch at the pedal by the bolt at the back of it in foot well. bleed the clutch as well but seemd fine.

its the standard flywheel thats in it which seemd fine,no scores or colouring.

I also just did a bit of normal driving 2 bed the clutch in and then sum hard starts, was perfect then, could this happen if i hadnt run it in 4 long enough, thort it wud show up all the time,

cheers

Only way forward is for the box to come out to see if the plate is damaged or stressed.

Considering the low miles since fitting i would be going back to the vendor soon and asking for a refund

Bleeding it won't help, slipping could only be by pressure plate not clamping the disc to the flywheel. This could be faulty pressure plate, disc sticking on input shaft or something floating about which is periodically jamming the fingers of the pressure plate and not allowing it to return to the drive position. Surely if there was leaking of oil your last clutch would have been contaminated?

Did you fit it yourself?

one of my mates fited it in a garage, hes a machanic and workd on all my cars and all been fine, highly dout theres ne thing wrong with the fitment, i was with him when it was put in aswell. have emailed the seller about the clutch, going for a refund and going to try a exedy one, heard good things.

good point about the oil contaminating the old clutch, it hadnt, so thats one cause tickd off, cheers
