Askmid Insurance Databases

Recommended Posts

hi i wonder if anyone knows how long it takes for a cars insurance to register on askmid the company the dvla use for online car tax and if it's the same database the police use ?

i've paid my years policy on the classic, the money has come out the bank, i have the documents and had confirmation on the phone that i'm insured as they needed copy of the alarm fitted etc, however i can't tax car online as dvla computer says no :)

could i still be done for having no insurance if it pings on a traffc car even though i have my documents ?

If you take your documents to the post office you can tax it there and as long as you have your documents the police cant do you!! just keep them in your car!! :)

was trying to do it online because the reminder got sent to previous owner. should be able to do it at the post office with y reg document. as long as i'm not going to get done i'll be happy.

Make sure they have all the correct info on the insurance documents, i.e reg no, turns out technically I drove for nearly a year without insurance as the reg no was wrong on my policy even though when I pass it to them I tell it to them phonetically. I only forund out when I tried to tax the car online, it can take about a week for the information to show on the database

Hi there mate,

I left my job as an insurance broker yesterday and had been doing that for 7 years.

As far as we have been made aware through the company I used to work for, information is transferred onto M.I.D (Motor Insurance Database) midnight of when the policy goes live, so if the policy starts on the 1st November, we would transfer the details onto M.I.D midnight of the 1st November.

If you are trying to tax the car online and the policy has not started as yet then that would be why the information has not been transferred as yet and you can not tax the car online.

If your policy on the other hand has started and is not showing on M.I.D then I would contact your insurance company and they may have to update M.I.D manually.

Hope this helps,

Alan.
