green_goblin Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) If you take your documents to the post office you can tax it there and as long as you have your documents the police cant do you!! just keep them in your car!! Edited October 14, 2009 by green_goblin
empty_heed Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 If you take your documents to the post office you can tax it there and as long as you have your documents the police cant do you!! just keep them in your car!! was trying to do it online because the reminder got sent to previous owner. should be able to do it at the post office with y reg document. as long as i'm not going to get done i'll be happy. keira
green_goblin Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Yeh you should still be able to do it no probs and there no way they can do you for no insurance....as you have it
G.Mac Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Make sure they have all the correct info on the insurance documents, i.e reg no, turns out technically I drove for nearly a year without insurance as the reg no was wrong on my policy even though when I pass it to them I tell it to them phonetically. I only forund out when I tried to tax the car online, it can take about a week for the information to show on the database Graeme
terzo neil Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 it took only a day to have both of mine on the askmid.co.uk insurance register
oz *sti* Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Hi there mate, I left my job as an insurance broker yesterday and had been doing that for 7 years. As far as we have been made aware through the company I used to work for, information is transferred onto M.I.D (Motor Insurance Database) midnight of when the policy goes live, so if the policy starts on the 1st November, we would transfer the details onto M.I.D midnight of the 1st November. If you are trying to tax the car online and the policy has not started as yet then that would be why the information has not been transferred as yet and you can not tax the car online. If your policy on the other hand has started and is not showing on M.I.D then I would contact your insurance company and they may have to update M.I.D manually. Hope this helps, Alan.
empty_heed Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 documents ae right, insurance, logbook and car are all the same reg. i phoned insurance again today and they assured me i was insured and that their is a note on my account to find out why it is not on the insurance database.
gordi82 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 you wont be able to tax online because you wont have the unique ref number of the reminder.
thefastone Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 As long as your papers are in order, then it really doesn't matter what it says on the website... Obviously provided that your insurer's haven't asked for the papers back, and you said no... They wouldn't be much use then....
empty_heed Posted October 17, 2009 Author Posted October 17, 2009 you wont be able to tax online because you wont have the unique ref number of the reminder. erm yeah you can you just use the log book number instead of the tax reminder number
thefastone Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Yes, as long as you have the new style V5 then there shouldn't be a problem...
