StewartyBoy
Evening All, Going to buy an OBD cable to switch off the service light in my car, as I service them all myself. Are OBD cables car specific!? Everytime I look them up online it just says VAG! I thought they were all the same plug... ...HELP! Link to comment
scouk
They are the same plug, but not all cables are standard OBD cables.. Some are more car specific. VAG cables tend to be for euro cars (I think).. But a general ODB code reader/resetter "should" do the job, it is a standard OBD connection afterall. Alternatively you can get a USB cable from Tactrix (http://www.tactrix.com/) in the US which is specific for Subaru's and Evo's (& soem Nissans) which lets you read subaru specific error codes as well as the standard OBD ones. Also reset ECU and read ECU information, like pressure levels, air flows, & other bits of engien telemetry.. You can also re-program the ECU with the tactrix cable, but not for the feight hearted Link to comment
