Hi,

Is there anyone in Scotland that can supply and fit a sport cat downpipe??

I have my re-map on the 28th and i'm wondering if i would be better getting one of the sports cats fitted to replace the oe downpipe cat?? or is the extra benifits not that great?? i.e should i wait till i go bigger turbo and injectors etc before getting one??

Hi,

I got a Meercat sports cat fitted. It's a 100 cell job and there are no problems when it comes to MOT etc.

The Meercat one has a snakehead, wider mouth coming out the turbo for easier breathing.

I think it helped my turbo spool up a wee bit quicker.

The good thing is that you can get it done now without having to worry about a remap. Spread the cost etc.

I'm sure other places like C&C etc offer the same.

A lot of folks on here, particularly in the west, like the pipe work Meercat do.

General answer about whether to get one is usually yes, but can depend on other mods you've had done to warrant the remap such as perhaps as well having the whole system done.

e.g. I have a WRX blobeye decated except sportscat dp (+ couple smallish other items) and went from 225 standard to 280ish.

I've got a 07 STI with back box, centre section, main de-cat + de-resonator + HKS filter + walbro and cooler plugs.

So might be worth trying to get one fitted before the end of the month then!

Don't be shy Stoo, get yourself a Sports CAT/De-Cat Downpipe fitted.. the inlet into the stock downpipe is very tight, so defo worth getting it changed to make the most of your re-map with Andy. Plus, if you fit a Sports CAT then you wont need to worry come MOT time.

I travelled to Meercat to get a full system made up and would totally go back again if I needed another exhaust done, the quality of work is worth the trip through IMO... my friend I was telling you about bought a Japspeed 3" Sports CAT downpipe and got Checkpoint in Arbroath to fit it up on his Hawkeye STi before he got it mapped at Andys.

Cheers,

Stoo get yourself a Meercat 100 cell downpipe. That's what I have, and it's a big difference over the standard DP. Have a look on the Meercat website at the difference in size between the OE downpipe and the snakehead - it speaks for itself.

Big difference in noise as well. I can hear the turbo spooling up and the standard dump valve opening very clearly. It's well worth it in my opinion, and will get you the best out your remap.

Cheers.
