Phil MC Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Are those 100pcd discs I gave you gonna be ok for you Kenny?
thefastone Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 You know I would be very wary of buying bolts for your brakes off Fleabay, as I've heard more than a few times, people purchasing saftey critical items such as Spacers and bolts from Ebay, and the ensuing accidents often is surprising that people were not killed... Personally something like that, I'd just bite the bullet and Buy the right bolts in the first place... it could be cheaper in the long run...

arch Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Cant see what the fixation is with dealer bolts. If you buy the correct grade of high tensile bolt from a reputable seller, there are loads on ebay, I fail to see what the issue is. Mine havnt fell off yet and I would be quite happy to bet anyone on here the value of their car that they wont http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/stainlessbolts__W0QQ_armrsZ1

Cheers Kenny
arch Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Kenny my "fixation" comment was in response to some of the comments which suggest that only a dealer can provide bolts of an adequate spec. I can see why you got fed up. I must admit it sounds strange that they are a different thread pitch than normal

I must admit it sounds strange that they are a different thread pitch than normal Hi Arch ,juts back from T.M.Smith engineers got some discs skimmed £20 for one disc which i thought was good ,i got them to check the thread pitch on the dealer bolts an it turns out that they are M12x1.5mm pitch so the ones from AS Performance are wrong will phone them on monday,so in future i will take a leaf out of your book and find out the bolt size and pitch and see if i can get them from the link you posted Cheers Kenny

Everyone should ahve a set of metric and imperial thread gauges for just this sort of scenario http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/METRIC-THREAD-PITCH-...id=p3286.c0.m14

I have redrilled my rear diff as it had a six speed hole pattern which is slightly different from the 5 speed prop, but to to be honest I prob would sell the discs and buy new ones but think quite a few people have done this without any issues relating to weakening the disc

Cheers Kenny
