granby Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I have decided to step down as Kent Scoobies R/O, the club just doesn't seem a fun place to be anymore and i feel i should move on, i will still be on the SIDC but will not be taking such a active roll in the running of Kent Scoobies All the best Ian
Scooby Hoo? Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Well Ian I must say that I'm not totally surprised, as you would have appeared to have had little backing and support over the last two years. I for one am truly sorry that Kent Scoobies has come to this. It's a sad day for the Club and the SIDC.I personally would like to thank you for all the HARDWORK you have put into taking the Club forward, most of which was behind the scenes and unseen. I hope that the right person will come forward to take the Club into a new airer.
matthew_buckland Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 What can i say, sorry to see you go mate, i can understand your decision, i think you made a brilliant job of today, getting everyone there, collecting money etc and the stand looked better then most, spotted you no problem. Still see you at meets, take care.
fudge Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 (edited) I have not been in the SIDC too long, but what I have seen of Gramp's arranging is faultless. Sorry to hear the news matey but I too fully understand your decision. I generally keep out of the club politics as I feel it's crazy that a club so small encounters so many internal problems?. Running a business by myself takes up 80% - 90% of the time I am awake. I joined the club to enjoy the very little social time I have and it's sad that I often read trouble related topics instead of car related. I don't need that. KS is SO small it could be run SO easily if run correctly. I have a small group of what I regard as friends that I have made in the short time I have been here, and if they start to filter out, I will join them. Edited June 14, 2009 by skullfudge
mikkers Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Didn't think it was going to happen this quickly Ian. Very dissapointed but I too can understand why. Your running of the cub was done with total dedication and excellent, I'm sorry it has come to this. Thanks for your help saturday too
leebo77 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the hard work Ian Edited June 15, 2009 by leebo77
badpenny1 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 For the king pin of K.S Mr k.s himself saying "the club just doesn't seem a fun place to be anymore " Only two things to say.....All the best Ian. AND "Would the last one here please switch off the light "
EN4ever Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 sorry to hear this.thanks for all the hardwork and effort
col_2 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 sorry to hear your stepping down granby, thanks for everything you have done for this club, taking bookings, payments, meets etc etc etc.....
ScoobyShep Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Sorry too hear that your leaving your post, not been on here too long myself but the meets iv been on and BHP show was well organised thanks for making me feel at home here (That goes too Pele aswell) Im sure we will all meet again some time but good luck in all your future ventures.
baser999 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 . . . the club just doesn't seem a fun place to be anymore . . . Quite agree Ian - Ive only been here for 4 years but have noticed the difference over the past few years. Leave the door open as I reckon they'll be others following you out
Nudge Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 sorry to hear this Ian, but you done a great job with the club, all clubs have their niggles, and you never get the gratitude you deserve for all the hard work behind the forums, but a man got to do what a man gotta do, catch up with ya soon geezer...
HairyDJ Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Sad news chap - although I seem to be whizzing down to Kent less than we used to, I've always kept an eye on this corner of SIDC and appreciated the efforts that various organisers have put in. Of course any RO who drives a wagon has got to be a bit more special We've always had great welcomes and good banter, whether at our first visit (RBMR convoy) or at more recent contact at Lydden or track training days. Hope to still see you about from time to time, and hope that standing down will let you get back to enjoying that silver beast. To all scooby folk in Kent (whichever group or name you gather under) - I hope you can sort out some sort of stable get togethers soon. A few of you are clearly strong willed (and maybe a bit short fused too?) but please try to channel that energy to do some good. Imagine how a newbie would view the patch if they were searching for fellow owners in their area, and try to make it as attractive as you presumably found it when you joined? Cheers, David & Chrissy
phil Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Ian It will be a massive loss to Kent Many thanks for your hard work over the years

Sad times indeed.
baser999 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Sorry to hear this mate you've done a fantastic job in keeping the flag flying.Sad times indeed. What is really sad is the reason why Ians chucking it in . . . . the club's no longer a fun place to be A car club should be a fun place, where like-minded people share their common interest and for someone such as Ian to no longer find there's any fun, well, what more can you say?
yogi- Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 IMHO you understand I think "some" KS members are far too serious and need to lighten up and learn to love thy member and try remember back to when you 1st got your car and the pleasure we all got from turning up to meets and runs/day's out. Ian or anyone can't run the club single handed so I understand why he has handed the keys back. Can we all try to forget about politics and get back to the subject in hand which is enjoying our scoob's and the great people in the club We can rebuild the spirit if you want to, and hope it's not too late to find the lurve again COME ON YOU LOT AND FFS

fudge Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 The club CAN be turned around again. Everyone is now gloomy and it's only US that can change that. Maybe larger turnouts for meets would be a good thing, or more joint meetings with other clubs. I would have attended more, but the ol' P1 has been away a lot. There will always be guys & gals selling there cars, and there will always be new people joining, and sometimes previous members returning with another Scoob ! Would be good for the club if we win the MLR500 !! "Team Kent Scoobies" beating all the Evo girls at there own event
