I could be up for this but I really don't think my car will get onto hypertechs rolling road, i'm just too low

put your name down mate, am sure it will go on, my mates P1 sits really low and goes on no problems.....

Think I might pop along actually, don't fancy putting my car on hypertech's rollers unless your really struggling(and it's not too low), their figures are way off tbh but I'll be there and will make a donation anyway.

1. scoobysailor (01 WRX)

2. boab type ra (WR 1)

3. jimser (g4y classic)

4. jonboywrx (98 uk) ... if your stuck ill help out, was going to come to watch anyway

5. STI Pretender (06 STI) 329 on a Dastek so could be good to see the difference on Dyno Dynamics.

why do you say their figures are "way off"??always found dyno dynamics rollers to be pretty good....

Search any number of forums mate and you'll have your answer (HTUK, Falkirkcruise, VAG Owners etc....). Everyones cars were down around 40bhp, even my mates standard Hawkeye STI was given 240bhp reading at hypertech and was ment to be doing well at that according to them, he then took it to Extreme and it was just shy of 300bhp with no changes made to the car. I could list more similar examples if your interested.

It completely depends on the rollers circumference and adjustment. No two roads will give the same power output and not one rolling road could ever give an accurate reading so who's can you claim is more accurate? The purpose of a rolling road is to merely give an IDEA of power.

Only by taking the engine out and dyno testing at the flywheel will give accurate results, as there is minimal displacement.

In an ideal world there would be 3 dynos and a run of each, and by taking the average would give you the best IDEA.

you may find that people tend to have more to say or post slagging of dynos(i dont just mean duncs) when their car hasnt made the power they hoped or expected it would....for all the bad comments, there will be plenty of good feedback too, have seen him run up plenty of cars that have made the correct/expected power, or the cars that have had issues/problems identified when running up which once sorted were very happy with the service...

as stewartyboy says, there are lots of different factors which can affect the run and it is a guide, however from what im led to believe dyno dynamics are supposed to be 1 of the top rolling roads....

are horsepower figures that important?or just for pub talk...ive been there where you get fixated on a "magic number" but at the end of the day all that really matters is how it goes on the road.....i remember going back a while now having a blast with a guy who was shouting that his car was 450bhp, it had been at dastek, my car had been on steve simpsons dyno dynamics and made 386bhp and i smoked him.....so his graph was worth about 2 balloons and a blow at the rag mans trumpet

I've known a lot of people that have used hypertechs rollers and not one has made their expected power, but as stated it is mostly for pub talk and doesn't always could for much when actually on the road.

Looking forward to see what everyone makes on sunday

do the specifics of which RR is better than the others really matter?

It seems like we've lost sight of the purpose of the day.

a get together with the Nissan lot, have a laugh and most importantly raise money for the charity that Hypertech have chosen.

What time does this start? I have looked through the threads and can't find times

I am thinking of taking a more sceanic route there as sitting in the 40mph roadworks up the M80 / A80 all the way up to Falkirk was a wee bit monotonous last weekend.....

I agree.....it's always good to get the figures on a Dyno, but I don't think they count for anything - it's definately all about how it drives, how the power comes in and how it handles (and stops!!). In my opinion anyway.

guys..sorry been away on business for a few days.

I will call with Duncan tomorrow to confirm if the event is now going ahead with the improved numbers........and if so what time..??

will report back tomorrow night....I promise...

ah, a very good point, how it stops...have to say the brakes on my car are definitely 1 of the best mods made.... ;)

Power is nothing without a timed run on Crail or such likes.

Scot..i haven't heard the word "smoked" on here for ages..made me giggle! ;)

Yes guys as above its a 9am start. This is to allow each of the 15 or so cars the 3 runs on the dyno.......so an early start is required to fit it all in I'm afraid.....

Looking forward to it now...should be a good day....

thanks

sorry paul but i'm not going to make this now, cars in more need of a compression test than a rolling road at the moment unfortunately ;)

might be worth updating the list Paul with the call offs, scotty has sold his rb320 and the new owner is collecting it on saturday morning so it wont be there either, be disappointing if we ended up not having enough scoobs turn up after the hassle dunc had getting the evos secured too...

not sure what to make of this all now..........but the decision has been made to go ahead anyway...

guess we will have to see who does actually turn up on the day and go from there...

sccobysailor....no worries about the time mate.....its on all day...and the cars dont need to run in any particular order...

just whenever you can get there is fine...

thanks
