Horsepower Heroes

Evening all

Okay.....

The Horsepower Heroes event for charity at Hypertech is now unfortunately looking in doubt, unless the SIDC can pull a blinder out of the bag....

With the MLR forum pulling out of the event and not even telling anyone !!...its left the situation kinda high n dry as it where.

I started of with a list of prob around 6 or 7 cars that were due to attend the event and go on the rollers on behalf of the SIDC.....however I have had several drop outs due to various understandable reasons.....I am still waiting on anyone else who pm'd me originally to come back to me saying if they can still attend the event......

So we have a choice here.....???

1) The event is cancelled..which would be a shame after the work all the team at Hypertech had done in preparing.......magazines, merchandise, food, etc etc...as well as the embarassment of having to go back to the charity to cancel....!!

2) The SIDC come to the rescue and make it a day to remember without the MLR club........so how do we do that...???

Initially the concept was to get the highest horsepower cars etc etc.......Now...the Skyline guys are still going to be there..so there is still some competition......however........

While our plan was to throw onto the rollers the highest powered cars we had...there is absolutely no reason why we cannot put our slightly less tuned models forward....whilst the competion for power was the main goal...we must not forget the purpose of the day was to raise money for the charity.......we can do that with anyones car....it doesnt have to be a fully tuned monster......

so what do you guys and girls think.....?????

IF I hear from the others on the original list we will still need additional cars......anyone prepared to put their car forward for the event.......??

Decisions on this unfortunately have to be made by Saturday. I need to contact Duncan at Hypertech by this time, and unless numbers are sufficient enough for us to make a decent donation to the charity then the event will have to be cancelled.........

We have had Santa Cruise rolling roads before with great success....there is no reason why this cant be a success for everyone involved.....

Hypertech, Help the Heroes, SIDC, SKyline Owners Club, and the various magazines which have commited to cover the event and offer prizes.

Comments welcomed.....

I am happy to start another list with definate confirmed numbers.....

thanks everyone for listening.

Paul

Spoke to Dunc tonight Paul & a few independant evo owners might be coming, I'm sure SIDC members will pull together when they read this post & save the day, I'll be there all day as well

no worries Peter......I guessed the car wouldnt be ready anyway after our chat at Knockhill.....but thanks for your kind offer of a donation....lets just hope we can pull it together....

Thanks for sticking your names down guys....just to double check you have read the original post about this in Events.......and are prepared to donate the amount listed there ???.......

I guess the best thing moving forward is just to add to the list on this thread.....if any of the orginal power cars arrive on the day...then we can decide then what is needed......

so any more takers to go on the rollers....

I make it 4 for now......would like to get up to 10 willing to do this if possible....make the event runnable...and the donation to the charity more substantial...

thanks guys...

Just spoke to John McCallum - Duncan helped him out no end when he had problems with his Litchfield Type 25.

He has agreed to bring along his new R35 GT-R for the event and put it on the dyno.

Please add his name to the list lads.

Only 1 thing may prevent the run so please be aware.

The car has not been run in yet and he needs to keep below 3k RPM no use for the dyno, he is currently at 850 miles and will hopefully have it past the 1200 miles needed and the first service done by the 14th.

Will keep you posted when he has it all done.

If needed i can always put the RB320 on to make the numbers up as well, totally standard though and being ex Forces quite happy to do a run just for the sake of it and to give some dosh to Charity.

Regards

Scott

I could be up for this but I really don't think my car will get onto hypertechs rolling road, i'm just too low :rotfl:

hope you manage to get the numbers up Paul, im like Peter in the fact that my car not going to be ready in time, even if it will be at hypertech for the event :D it would be a real shame to see the day cancelled, like i said in my post on the events section, the most important thing about the day is the charity, so even if the cars are all standard, it makes no difference, its the taking part that counts :boxing:

Thanks guys for the support.............

I reiterate my point....if anyone who originally contacted me about doing the event let me know where they stand.......

At the minute I think the best option is if the MLR do send anyone....we can decide on the day who wants to go on the rollers for the SIDC....
