Currently i have a 06 wrx saloon in black, with black 18" inovits, bc coilovers, 225 walbro pump, hks panel filter, blitz nuRspec exhaust, ht autos splitter, sti spoiler, tints allround. And ive been considering goin for the bigger turbo, h&s downpipe and andy F remap for hopefully 320 + brake... But over the last month or so i have really been considering swapping for a evo 8 GT or a evo 9 FQ-340, really just for a wee change. Allso been looking at M3's or a little over budget RS4 Saloons. What yoou guys think? I expect the die hard just keep the scooby response... but let me have it!! Cheers, Mark

And i roughly do around 3 to 4 k a year. Saw i royal blue 8 GT with 400bhp, 400lbs. but mines is a 06, with 20k n the evo is a 54 with 30k. Just feeling a little bored just now, even after fitting the bc's which make it feel like its on rails. Like the idea of the active yaw. Guys help me!!!! They mrs is going mental that i want to swap after all the work thats went into the wrx, but i just feel a little let down, loooking for more if you know what i mean. I looked at the white Sti Ra in keighly motors, but its too overdone looks wise for me. Few pints in chaps since im off tomoro, need a clean head asspect
thewelsho Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) No wonder the missus is going nuts! Didn't you just recently acquire the car as well? For the 320bhp you're after, you can easily achieve this (and a bit more) with a VF34/35 turbo. And since you are running the 2.5 you will get oodles more torque; up to 400 ft/lbs. This is the torque figure for my car which is a little more than other WRXs which I think might be down to running forged pistons, though I dunno for sure. jimmymc1 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 evo all the way if you want just that little bit more! definately the way to go although there is no such car as an 8 gt??? dunno what you've seen but definately wasnt an 8 gt . 9 was the first to get the gt model. the ayc is not all its cracked up to be takes alot of the fun out of hard cornering tbh id go for an 8mr rs and take great pleasure in pissing allover m3's . all ud need is a decent interior and hopefully any rs u get these days would have already been fitted with alcons or similar ud be laughing! i know its a subaru forum and the usual darkside crap creeps up but its to good a car to dismiss as some sort of evil enemy! and the people on the mlr are a really good bunch of lads aswell many a cracking day/event laid on by these guys! it doesnt burble but it does have a lovely turbo soundtrack to admire as you blast along! just my opinion of course!
paul555sti Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Mark my brother has an evo 6 its a great car running high 300 bhp. It sounds great with the nur spec r exhaust . The only thing is it feels different to the scoob it doest give you the push in the back like a quick scooby does. Dont get me wrong its just as fast if not faster but it just feels different. The only advice i would give would be to get a decent drive in one and see how you feel. There have been plenty people how have moved over to the dark side only to end up back here again.

Jazmac Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Nice evo there but it would be a RS4 if i had the cash. I could be mistaken but i was lead to beleive the evo's had two clutches that had to be serviced all the time, dont quote me though just something i was told.

Just after then we got our first house , and had to spend a fortune to sort it out! Now im talkin about new cars shes talking about aa bigger house, so the RS4 is right out the window for a year or so now! As far as i know most evos need serviced every 3500miles. But as i said miles arent an issue. Done around 1.5k max since september on my car! Edited May 25, 2009 by Wagon_Mark

RS Grant Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I'd go for the EVO mate... being a WRX, your Impreza will cause problems once you start to tune it and with the money you spend on a new gearbox and associated items to try and keep it 'reliable', you could have a stonking EVO running an easy 400/400 without any hassle apart from having to buy an expensive clutch to handle the power. M3 is grown up and a class above the jap stuff, however, on backroads the E46 is meant to be a bit unsettled according to John Banks (who knows what he's talking about) and I can see where he's coming from going by the dynamics of my old dears 330d M-Sport which seems to crash over bumps and doesnt feel at home pushing on down the twisties.
