looks like you could do with a fabricator :rotfl:

now where would you find one of those who works at a place with lots o shiny metal??

I'm sure I could "lend" you some ali or stainless for that little project, with maybe a little contribution to the work cash scrap fund?

It should be fairly easy for you to make your own template, no?? You could pop rivet the panels together or I could TIG weld it up.

Just give me a shout if you want a hand! :D

I was actually considering going into work on sunday or monday to fit my front splitter, you could come over if you fancy?

How much would a bought one be??

Just as a thought has anyone tried making a tube to go over the cone filter, obviously large diameter so as to allow some breathing space for the filter, then off the main tube/shroud you could have another tube (at 90deg to it) plumbed into the ducting I see residing in your wing. The tube would have only one open end and be a reasonable fit at the other. Just thinking this would contain the cool air better and if the flexible ali tube was routed to the front of the car you may even see a very small ram effect. I have no idea if this would be a better or desirable idea.

I have made one like this for my dads Audi A4 but it doesn't have the performance to make a noticeable difference.

At least it could only suck cold air that way? With the shroud pattern above it would be fairly easy for warm air to come from above and below???

Just some thoughts.............

You have my number if you want to try anything and need a fabby

Like the look/sound of this guys

Ben - what sort of prices would you wanting to fabricate one cause im definately interested :rotfl:

as ben is good with his hands,

we can use mine for the prototype.. :D

then show the end results to others..!

what do you think ben....

as found some c/a/boxs and they are all poa(so will be expensive)

Ok I see what you mean, and capping it top and bottom would certainly be the way forward. The only problem I see with that, purely from an engineering perspective, is trying to cut around all the pipes and other ancillaries and still have it as air tight as possible. Not only would this be difficult but may present problems trying to install it???

I was just thinking if you can shroud the filter in a large "can", effectively then you have a better seal without all the holes for those pipes etc. It would be fed cold air from the flexi pipe in your wing and be connected to it. You can use the net on the end of the filter cap to mount a bracket off to support one end of the tube/shroud.?? This would be far simpler to install and may far more effective??

I'm no tuner, just a metal basher :rotfl: and it only an idea, I just think it would be far simpler. Maybe Big D would have an opinion from a tuning perspective?

I can do a drawing if you don't get my poor explanation of my idea.

I am happy to help which ever way you want to go, hell why not try both...................and don't worry I wasn't even thinking of charging anything for myself. Just a contribution to work for the metal.

I really have to go now as I'm out for the day, so I'll answer the other questions when I get home (just so you don't think me rude)

Hi mate. I have no idea for a price. I make loads of things for my mates and my old man, normally the only problem is time. I don't really do stuff for the money, I just like making things for my mates and them to have cool stuff. There is normally no way I could charge people what the things actually cost because it would be extortionate. Things just take so long to make by hand. We are quiet at work at the mo so when we have done Chris's shroud we could try and work out a break even price and make one for you in company time, that way it would be done this side of christmas :D:D

It's looking like this shroud may be specific to this filter as chris dropped round tonight and we looked at some ideas. But I'm sure it could be modded for others. I'm sure we'll sort something out for you B)

Same goes for anyone wanting some exhaust work doing or any fabrication really.

LOL! get back to your metal bashing fella :P See you can make some panels to stop the Scoob looking like a Mazda eh.... :D

:)B):D

Don't worry I'm on it already..................should be painting and fitting the new grill today. Then do chris's c.air box and my splitter tomorrow :P

No......................I.....I cant resist...................................at least i'm doing something about the look of mine :lol:

just been out in car ,and car feels quicker with the filter on...

spools up in no time, and pulls alot better than it ever did.....

aswell as alot more induction noise,

can it be my imagination??????

Posted

will be better when the cold air feed is done..i'll feel better(no more heat)

and its made the exhaust a bit more louder...well more raw sounding....

was going to get a pipercross filter but this come up very cheap...

will post some pics up when we are done ..

very nice system,"rich man"..... :):D

the filter i got has a cover just to stop some of the heat.but did'nt get one with it.

it just lets the air circulate round all the filter, not just one side..

was looking at putting it in the wing, but to much effot to do it...

as would get in the way when i do put a fmic on...... B)
