I thought it was crackin' mate. We came up and stayed in Inveness on the Friday night so had a wee pre-run mini convoy.

Apart from the mishap with the meal (which was out of everyones hands) I thought it was excellent.

Maybe have to plan in some motorway driving so I don't get lost the next time :icon_salut: We'll be back up for the next one.....

I thought it was a fab weekend as Fraser said, headed up on the Friday...my only regret was missing out on the last leg of the journey round the island and not really being able to see much when driving :icon_salut: ...thought the rain was going to be an issue but think we took it down the road with us! would love another ...SOON lol

i thought it was just right too, a nice blend of driving, socialising and sight seeing.

i could tell that a lot of planning had gone into it, the maps and pre-booking meal and B&Bs took some stress out of the weekend.

Distance and mileage seemed ok, but then again I wasnt driving.

I dont think lack of V-Power caused any major problems, I guess we're used to it being that far north :D

I suppose an option to arrive at our destination early on Day 1 would have been nice, for the chance for a nap (we had a 05:15 alarm call  ) or to start drinking, but folk seemed happy to break away from the main group and do their own thing anyway, so not an issue.

it was mainly a driving weekend and i really enjoyed it.

Would defo do it again :icon_salut:

Cracking weekend Dave & defo be up for the next one,

I think the balance of driving & resting up was just right & because of the location the option was there to either go hairing off round the island or take it easy, Mag isn't into the more progressive driving & I got a few oohhs & ahhhs from the passenger seat  but I compromised :D & missed out on a couple of the runs.

Wev'e had a bit of a stessful time lately so we really enjoyed the break & I managed to get some driving in.

As I said before it was great to catch up with friends old & new & have a few

Cathy (midnight 21) did offer to take Mag to Portree so i could go daft but Mag says you drive as fast & as safely of course as the rest of the crowd

Only down side was the indian & how the bill turned out but a big :icon_salut: from me & Mag

3 thumbs up is the best compliment i can give

Although visions of brutalised Donkeys on Blackpool beach left a similer taste to Saturday nights Talisker sipping episode.

Banana also gives a peep peep (if it had a horn) in approval for the choice of roads

Dave, outside the Mcrae gathering that ranks as one of the best weekends I've had with the car

since joining the "community" in 2006, hats off to you sir and the others involved in organising it. As

the others have said the balance was just right between driving and the craic :icon_salut:

I would def be up for it again

Cheers Kevan

Only thing that I can say Dave, is you have got away with it this time...

You have disgraced your people with Shoddy Indian Food, and still were not calling for your blood!

If it happens again, the people will expect harakiri!

Have to say.. on the last few days before the weekend I was getting worried about all the possible things that could go wrong! As it turns out things were better than expected.. Weather was far better, tunout was great and no mad rushing around to get to places on time! no "major" incidents.. Infact pretty much spot on!!

Big thanks to everyone who was involved in making it run smoothly...

As far as I know this is the first large 2 day event held on SCottish SCoobies soil. So was interested to see how it would be received..If prooved to be a success.. I'd love to see at least one large event every year!! There was even a brief talk about having 2 or 3 large events a year in different parts of Scotland.. THat way you "southerners" can get your own back by making us travel all the way down to the south of scotland for an event!

My own view.. I love driving.. But felt it was a great balace of driving/baneter and sight seeing!!! Made for a great weekend all round!! CLearly a weekend that won't be forgotten anytime soon! If stuck for ideas how about some activity afternoon like karting, paint balling etc..

:lol: :lol: :lol::icon_salut:

Here's to future BIG meets! :D

In all seriousness (because I can be serious if I want to be...)

Really, I'm not sure that there's anything that we could have done better, save perhaps, for a recce run, but everything was pretty well timed out, the routes were the best that could have been, and the attendees were well behaved all round.

I also thought that the slightly more relaxed pace was great for the weekend run, although a faster pace is great for a one day event, its nice to not have to carry it the whole time, so for that reason, the day one pace, was nice, a big more *cough* lively, and Sunday more laid back, that I thought was great.

Not sure though, how many places about Scotland that you could get away with having a 2 day run like that, but I wouldn't be against trying it. :)

Serious about the food tho... Bloods the only appology were going to take! :hello:

But nah, it wasn't your fault, Personally I blame Jen for not putting us off... :P I even hear that My sister-in-law was saying the place was crap... shame that message was never passed on till I got home...

I loved it! :P Defo be up for another one if i'm home, but would have the car better prepared for it next time. :hello:

Besides it's your round next time Dave!! :)

thanks everyone,it wouldnt have been the success it was without all of you, your group spirit and general standard of driving/behaviour.

knowing everyone seems happy with the 2 day format gives me lots of scope... of course if anyone else has routes or wants to have a go il be happy to help!

at the moment im tempted to suggest another this year if people are up for it and a return to skye next year-chinese anyone? :hello:

Dale,if we have another disaster like that il happily impale myself on a golden poppadom sliver while riding a donkey

:hello:

Thinking of larger events... me head is buzzing with wee ideas.. But here's one.. How about a borders weekend! And try and get interest from a cross the border to meet up at the front line! Any budding movie directors among us fancy setting up a story line of a battle between scotland and englandshire? Even opening it up into a combat weekend of different activities.. e.g. Find a sprint track/manouvre track somewhere and build up points across hte weekend for different events to see which side wins.. Opens up a bit of scope and woudl be great for hte Club.. Also woudl make something worth writing about for True grip :)

The other idea I had last year was more of a "few" day event.. Of havign a convoy right round the outline of SCotland.. No need for everyone to go on the whole route.. But have it ongoing with different leaders, you can pick up on the convoy as it travels through your local area and drop it off and let the next area take over with stop off in key touristy areas for a break and look around.. Sort of like a Richard Burns Relay sort of thing but perhaps in the name of Colin McRae... Or how about the "The Great Scottish-Scoobies Haggis Run!"

:P

I'd say any and all suggestions welcome at this time.. No matter how silly...

Sorry folk about the Indian...

The local folk I asked told me the food was good, but if it's a group booking they sometimes mess the orders up!

Local Rumor this week is that the Indian is in financial trouble..hence the bloody expensive poppadoms!...and may soon be going under....hooray!!!! :hello:

Dale you can gladly have my blood, but you'll have to catch me first! :D:)
