stum450n Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) There was an erie silence ... until the short-a*** loud mouth started up! The_1, having fun are we, keeping everyone guessing? Trouble is, you're lying... you know how I know? I'll tell you shall I... You don't know me... You may have looked at my website and got my name from there (How do I know you ask..? I know because it's my job to know). The fact that you've even managed to get my name wrong anyway is laughable but that aside, if you knew me, you would know I haven't been down here long. Because of that I can, without a shadow of a doubt, say that the only place I get parts from is Cotswolds or another source waaaaaay up north. The only people that have serviced my car are me and Big 'D'. Stop trying to get a rise out of everyone. It's immature and really is beyond anyone old enough to be out of primary school. Sorry if you don't like me or my opinions but to be quite frank, I really couldn't care less. You would get more respect if you acted like a man and stopped trying to be some half-a***d enigmatic, Omnipotent being... it really is laughable. Oh, and I'm forgetting to mention the fact that until this thread appeared, complete with his name emblazoned across the top, you have not once referred to Big 'D' by name... seems a little odd doesn't it, considering how well you know him and all! scooby_ger Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 it's working though isn't it! Not really. Just a plaything, but im 100% sure we will tire of you shortly.
the_1 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 right i got to say you lot are getting very boring now i thought this was a forum dedicated to subarus so can we get back to the original problem please. however if you feel you still want to act like children by posting pics of what you think i look like even though you obviously know i don't look like that then carry on if it pleases you but it just goes to show the mentality of some people on here. i thought this forum was a bit more grown up than the likes of scoobynet with people who seem to take great enjoyment in having a go at anyone and every one.

Look, its obvious you have riled some people, and obviously are not welcome. Me personally, enjoy taking the piss out of people purely because I can. Wind your neck in and contribute to discussion rather than trying to provoke reaction or playing guessing games. Im sure Admin have the big BAN button should you become too tedious. Chill with the still!!!

Big 'D' Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 i was contributing it's just some people don't like the fact that there could be another reason that the problem has occured other than the reason they posted. We are getting boring? What an a*** of a man you are. Most of us on here would go out of our way to help another. You are the only person in my time on the forum that has had this reaction on other forum users, like I said before you are not the only one that has ever dissagreed with any of my postings but you are the only one who has the ability to wind people up and continue to do so, perhaps if we knew who you are your words might carry some clout but as for now you are just a nobody expressing your opinion, see the difference between you and me at the moment is that everyone knows who I am. Also I have said before 3 or 4 times that I am not worried about being right or wrong about this so why do you keep going on about it. I have asked you what the symptoms of a failed water pump would be and no reply. I have also never stated that you were wrong once, only stated the available symptoms and my opinion as to what the fault could be and have asked if these symptoms could be that of a water pump failure and no reply. I have asked who you are and no reply. So maybe its not just me that needs to listen. You are the one that is boring and just down right up yourself. It is very rare that I will have a go like this but to be perfectly honest I find you a tad vexing at the moment. Cheers Iain

Big 'D' Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Just got back from the poorly Scoob. Its 90% better now just the matrix to sort. First thing I did was to isolate the engine from the matrix as it was leaking, then I replenished the lost water and bled the system though until it would accept no more water, whilst doing this I was checking for leaks on the engine itself to which I found none. The engine was then started and ran for several minutes there was no flow through the 2 matrix pipes that I had joined together or any visible sign of flow though the reservoir tank with the cap off, with the cap back on the system would not pressurize either. Next step was to eliminate the thermostat (seen in the caption comp ) Ed went away to source a spare thermostat and water pump (just in case) and whilst he was away I tested the one off the car, It did open but not very far ( to be honest it was the first time I have had one out of a scoob so I am unaware of how far they open normally but you could see it operate in the jug of hot water, I assumed it to be servicable and still assumed the pump had gone), when Ed got back with the replacement option I tested that too and it opened a little bit further so we decided to fit that one and test again. As I had removed the thermostat almost all of the engine coolant was lost so this was replaced with some nice new coolant and bled again. During the next run of the engine, the system pressurised which it did not do before, the cooland was flowing through the joined matrix pipes and when up to temp the water passed through the rad and the temp was controlled via the fans as should be, I am now assuming that there was some big airlock in the system that was not allowing the water to flow though the pump/engine correctly. Just the matrix to sort out now. A very strange and misleading fault this one but is sorted now and Ed is very happy Cheers Iain
scooby princess Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) Iain and Jenny, I have to say a massive THANK YOU for everything that you have both done over this last week. Jenny the fact that you had water to hand last sunday which was able to get us most of the way home and you allowed us to kidnap Iain for over 6 hours today has just been amazing and i really do thank you. Iain, Here we go again, How many times now have you been able to help us, too many to count on our hands now! Your are a star! The fact the you had a complete novice watching you at every step and you had to explain everything in plain english and not mechanic talk and still you kept your patience and kept with the problem! We owe you big time - as i said earlier, talk to Jenny and work out a time because we are going to take you out for a meal at cosmos on us as a thank you. You have helped us out sooooooooo much and it is really appreciated not just from me and ed but also all his work collegues as he was THE WORST BOSS GOING last week and all because his car was poorly! Thank you,Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Edited May 9, 2009 by SCOOBY PRINCESS
the_1 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 excellent result! the only worrying thing is where the airlock came from? quite possibly from the leaking matrix which i think is a dash out job on the early cars, have you bypassed the matrix so he can drive it without losing any water?
Big 'D' Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 You are very welcome guys I will speak to Jen about the meal If there is anything else I can do to help just ask. Cheers Iain
Big 'D' Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 excellent result! the only worrying thing is where the airlock came from? quite possibly from the leaking matrix which i think is a dash out job on the early cars, have you bypassed the matrix so he can drive it without losing any water? Had me baffled, it must have been a result of the leaking matrix there is no other explanation really, or from when the car overheated the first time, as for the cure the only thing I can come up with is that the airlock (if thats what it was) was remedied when I drained the engine down fully, both thermostats worked just one was better than the other so I fitted that one, the car was run up to temp I felt for the system pressure and the thermostat opening which it did then waited for the fans to kick in which they did then waited for the fans to stop, did this over about 10 minutes just to be sure then we took it out for a road test and all seems to be fine (touch wood) the system temp is stable there are no leaks, the system holds its pressure, the pump is flowing as it should and the fans are cutting in and out as expected, a very odd but interesting day Yes the matrix is bypassed, it was the first thing I did this morning.
edmondo Posted May 9, 2009 Author Posted May 9, 2009 Firstly - another huge thank you to what I consider a Subaru Guru.............Iain your da man As its transpired the problem was nowhere as serious as it could have been............ The_1..................Thanks for your input on this however you was a country mile out - I am so glad that Iain's original diagnosis was wrong and that 1 or 2 others I spoke to actually said Thermostat / Airlock theory ( who knew my car but actually hadnt seen it ) was right. So if its alright with you I will go along with Iain's diagnosis in future. Cheers Ed
Big 'D' Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 You are very welcome (again) In all fairness Ed if 'the 1' had been present and seen the car for himself, I am 100% certain the outcome would have been the same Cheers Iain
the_1 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 question if i may? has anyone given the car a good hard thrash yet?
