That's going to take a LOT of work... nearly everything bar the shell and interior will need replacing! Sound like you know what you're doing though! Welcome aboard and that's a tidy looking motor by the way!
bigbarry04 Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 there is more work in it than i thought there was i am replaceing engine *obviously* gearbox engine loom injectors turbo crossmember ecu full exhaust headers new intercooler clutch then there is the small issue of fitting and remapping, so i think i better start on the over time

You'll also need to sort your suspension, brakes, driveshafts, diff etc to cope with the extra power. Saying that, if it's a project you're after... make sure you enjoy it! Keep us all posted yeah?
Connor_scotland Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 (edited) I am not pissing on your fire buddy as i was in the same situation as you 2nd week in February :-) I was HELL bent on turning my WR1 coloured sport into a turbo - All because the shell was mint and in WR1 blue - I priced up the engine/box and that was pretty reasonable but it was all the other parts and the actual work involved - Have a look under my username for the thread as someone listed everything needed and a link to a lad doing it and its just SOOO much work - Even tho im pretty hand with a spanner it was just a bit to much for the fact i could get a good priced turbo you know. My sport already had turbo suspension, brakes, kit the whole lot I ended up selling the sport that week and buying a Turbo :-) Also i was told that insurance would be ALOT more - I didnt bileave this so got some quotes and i was up in the 1800 for insurance - i bought a turbo and insured it (23 with a previous ban and my lass 21 ) for 900ish :-) Obviously if you want to do it fire on and good on you:-) it will be worth it in the end to you. Joe G Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 No point is doing anything power wise until you get brakes to cope with the power. My advise would be, buy an sti, sell the sport and all the bits you have bought already and jobs a good un!! It will save you money in the long run
dipsy Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Whats your insurance going to be for a heavily modified sport

It will save you money in the long run I second that I looked at getting a normal Hawk Eye STi and adding the usual bits to it, until I discovered that the insurance would be MORE than the RB320 I ended up getting with all the bits on it already
