paul555sti Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Paul thats an outragous idea, however I have a better idea I am going to programme the sat nav on the 4 bus loads of kids going to Inverclyde via Chester race course, all the buses are getting bonnet scoops and high level spoilers I was only joking mate, i missed the Gathering through work and it still makes me feel gutted. Its just worked out nicely that i am off for this.
cruz104 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I was only joking mate, i missed the Gathering through work and it still makes me feel gutted. Its just worked out nicely that i am off for this. Well get some good pictures and we can swap when you get back. Enjoy as it will be a fantastic experience.
micra_wrc Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 for those thinking of making a weekend of the Handover, there are rooms available at Express Holiday Inn, Chester Racecourse its a bit dear (£90 for double/twin room) but you're slap bang in the racecourse so dead convenient for Sunday activities. we're still sorting details out but there will be things to see, its not just "hand the cheque over, thanks very much, see you later" imy
burgy_51_ Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 when r people thinking ove heading down on the saturday or sunday morning? I think have a convoy on the sat like the last time and stay overnight like the gathering.
Maxxed_Ross Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 that sounds the best plan to me I'm up for a convoy south, so count me in. Are we getting some event stickers sorted out this time round? I missed the last one
thefastone Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 So what's Peoples thoughts on when to go down then? The way I see it, you can work it one of 4 ways... 1) Drive down on the morning and back the same night. (Hardcore) 2) Drive down on the Saturday, and drive home after the event. (1 night) 3) Drive down on the Saturday, and Drive back on the Monday. (2 nights) 4) Drive down on the Sunday morning, and drive back Monday. (1 night) Anyone been thinking about this already? Dont really fancy booking anything to find that everyone is going to do something completely different?
paul555sti Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Hmmm never really thought about it like that. I have booked for the Saturday night. Will see what others have planned but i was thinking, drive down Saturday during the day, have a few beers and a meal on Saturday night . Up on the sunday and enjoy the event and then straight up the road afterwards.
micra_wrc Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 ...2) Drive down on the Saturday, and drive home after the event. (1 night) ... option 2 for us too. Not sure if our travel times will fit with you guys, dont know how much set up/take down time at Chester we'll need yet. fingers crossed we can convoy with you
empty_heed Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 option 2 for me too..... i'm all booked up. yipeeeeeeeeeee
thefastone Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Ok, so that sounds like the best option then, and if I'm honest, the most obvious option, I just didn't want to over-estimate what others would be thinking... Think I'll just go ahead and Book option 2 then...
micra_wrc Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 for those thinking of killing some time at Chester on Saturday there's Chester Oaks designer outlet or even Chester Zoo more info here: Things to Do in Chester
paul555sti Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 How far down is chester and how long a drive is it? Roughly 240 miles 4 hours ish.
micra_wrc Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 aye, its the other side of Liverpool and seems to be a straight forward journey, M6 M56 M53. click for Chester Racecourse website I know some of the Dumfries scoobs and Cumbrian scoobs are travelling down on Saturday, it may be possible to hook up with them en route.
Midnight21 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Roughly 240 miles 4 hours ish. Its only 35 miles short from my run to skye sure I could manage that lol
