oletam
Just removed the reonator box from inside the front wing on my hawkeye. Only had a wee run so far but plenty of induction noise and turbo spool up. Can even hear the dump valve. Does anybody supply a hose that will fit between the airbox and the underbonnet intake? Running with nothing on at the moment so it might be drawing in some hot air. Any opinions? Link to comment
scouk
Did the same mod a couple weeks ago.. But never noticed any difference in noise There is a tube you can buy (not UK) to fill the gap you mention: http://boostkits.com/product_info.php?products_id=815 Same place is on Ebay but prices are pretty much the same.. Not cheap but does keep the standard airflow.. Edited March 30, 2009 by ScoUK Link to comment

Casper Spec D
I have the above its good as it bolts straight in and it has a smooth curve which you many not acheive with a flexi also it may kink due to tightness of bend.I think all in my delete elbow cost £43.85 with delivery and came in six days.which ain't bad once you see what it is but it's up to you mate. I've done the same mate, also lots of induction whoosh, and the standard dump-valve making a decent noise (heard from inside the car at least). I think if you still have the original air intake in place to force air to the filter area then it will be ok on the road, but not great in slow traffic - which doesn't really matter anyway. I also have a cold air scoop in the bumper. I had thought of taking the original resonator box and sawing off the top, which will then fit back in, but have the large intake hole inside the wing, and with no obstructions between there and the filter. Cheers, Mark Link to comment

Maxxed_Ross
I did this on my last car, a 2.5 V6 ZS, and it had a huge difference to the air intake temperatures (the joys of having a Scangauge OBD system!) and throttle response was also much better... I had mine piped up the the front bumper though It's on the hit list for the RB in the better weather. Was it a hard job? Take it the bumper had to come off but anything else? Link to comment

Take off front wheel, remove inner wing cover, 1 screw and half a dozen pop fittings(careful not to break them). You wil thwn see the resonator arrangement. You can see the top nut in the engine bay between airbox and intake. loosen and remove. The lower one is at the bottom of the unit, a skint knuckle job to remove, but was only finger tight after breaking the original grip. Unit then lifts out and you can replace the inner wing. No need for bumper removal Below is a link to how its done. http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/Kno...esonatorRemoval Edited March 31, 2009 by oletam Link to comment

Silly question, maybe, but I'm going to ask anyhoo. If taking the resnator out changes intake temps and throttle response, is this a safe mod without a remap? Link to comment

Is this worth doing, as I'm not fan of Induction kits and prefer just a panel upgrade. Link to comment
Maxxed_Ross
if you think about it intake temps and air pressure change daily anyway, so the standard ECU will probably be able to cope ok Link to comment
thewelsho
if you think about it intake temps and air pressure change daily anyway, so the standard ECU will probably be able to cope ok I see your point; the ECU will account for changes under normal conditions, however, taking bits out means the car is not "normal", thus normally expected ranges may well be exceeded to the car's detriment. I mean, you're probably right, but I'd like to be 100% certain before I took risks. One engine going pop is just about enough for one Scooby, ha! Link to comment

I got the one from this site but it cost me £61. Seems a lot but when you compare it with the cost for most induction kits...not so bad. Better safe than sorry I suppose. Throttle response seems much better and smoother. It might be imagination but I think I'm getting slightly better fuel consumption. On the con side, since the part was coming from US I was billed £14 extra from the carrier for customs handling. Link to comment
