Guest CRAIG D Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Well were do i start. Gearbox went a few weeks ago on a trackscotland trackday at Knockhill. Finally bought the box for spaceman has had been rebuilt Took the front diff from my old box and got sw motorsport to fit it too my new box. Job done perfect and quickly as per usual from steve Also picked up these from steve who got these whiteline ARB powered coated in yellow. Yellow was a good choice at first now am having second thoughts Got home and started fitting new rollbars. did the rear but il need to get some front poly bushes. Am also abit iffy about putting the 24mm front rollbar on as i hear all of people sayin its very twitchy. once i got home from sw motorsports i got a nice wee surprise waiting at the door. Got it all fitted, Had to put the radiator fan on the right as it was hitting the timing belt pulley. Here is a few pics of it all fitted. also note how buggered the old radiator was surprised that i didnt cook the engine. Then i just decided to get rid of the A/C system for good and a little less weight to the car aswell which cant be a bad thing. SOOOOO Got all the fitted and done just in time for SIDC trackday. Got up nice and early to make sure all fluids etc etc were ok and away i went. seen a few people and it was a wee bit to cold to sit and chat did the 3 warm up laps and everthing seemed to be ok at this point. Everyone did there warm up laps with no props. Then headed out for a wee blast. did about 3 laps with some small drifting sessions at the hairpin. Then on my 4th laps it all went pair shaped. came up to the hairpin did a small drift and then BANGGGGGGG and it was a VERY LOUD BANGGGGGGG. I totally SH@T myself. Managed to get off the track with no worrys. Got into the car park were mr squiggle & co manged to came over for a small chat Came to the conclusion that the rear diff had given in the towel. Just decided to head home with i banging like a troop. Got to the stage it was getting real bad to managed to just make it to the M90 were i got the AA to came and pick me up. Passed a few scoobies on the way to the M90 and waved I had 2 spare rear diffs so i got to work this morning here is the progress. Managed to open the diff to find it in a very bad way Thats it all squared away now and running like a treat once again BUt the question is for how long now Gave it a wee wash and this is how it stands now Thanks for looking and hope i didnt waste to much of your time

jonboywrx Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Have you got a spare rear diff for sale pal??? Mines making a whinning noise!!
cullenmin Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Watch out for the radiator fan electrical wire touching the headers! I got a new bigger alloy radiator fitted and had the fan moved to the drivers side. A number of miles later the fan had stopped working and the wire had been rubbing on the header wrap. Enough to melt through the plastic of the wire and rub a bit of lagging away. Make sure the wire is secured away from the headers or the same may happen mate. Pity you missed a track day session, i would have liked to see the back end shennanigans that you are known for Rich
ScoobySounds Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Hi mate - are you still having second thoughts about your yellow anti roll bar? Its just that i've got a bit of a yellow theme running through my scoob, and would happily swap my 24mm Whiteline rear bar for yours! Its only about 1000 miles old.
cusco kid Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Yeah my aunt got things delivered How strange is that. Did you not see the scooby in the drive?? hi m8 running 24mm front and 24 mm rear bar tends to understeer ,best to use 22mm front and 24mm rear adjustable type with anti lift kit to combat the dreaded u/steer cheers geo
