pezza_no1 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 So after looking at the yellow type-r... I WANT IT!!!! Lol Question is what do I do with the current scooby? Do I brake it? Do I part-ex it which they offered £1600 or do I put it up for sale privately and hope I get a quick sale? What would you do?
emoe Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Private sale at the moment isnt all that great. £1600 for trade is pathetic mate, its worth more than that to you. breaking the car probably wont be brilliant but MAY make more money that selling. Although from the sounds of things, you need a quick sale, and breaking the car will take a while. The problem is the money at the moment. People just dont want to spend too much, so what your car was worth last year is way lower this year. Good luck.
scooby princess Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Was the part exchange from a garage? How long is the person prepared to wait if you put a deposit on it?
pezza_no1 Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 Yeah dont i know it, the car owes me about 4.5k!!!! Having only had it a year I'vev had to put in a recon engine, new radiator, new clutch, cam belt kit, done the full exhaust, front bumper repaired and resprayed etc etc etc the list goes on. I know I wont get anything near what it owes me but £1600 is just too low, 2k I guess i would take. SP yes it's from a garage, I would ask the parents for the money but typical they're on a cruise in the middle of who knows where so cant get hold of them. Then I could buy the type-r and take time selling the current one... Here it is.... http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...search_full.y=9

If yours is only worth 1.6k then that should go for 4k!! I wouldnt spend 6k on that car even if i had the money mate! Deffo get him down a fair bit!
Guest sti3_lewak Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I Agree... Is this a fresh import Also. as it looks like its not had any coversions in it for the uk road? If so then how has it had a HPI check ???? 6k for it is very OTT you could get at least 2.5k for yours alone.... stick with yours yellow don't suit your new hair doo.

scooby-22 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hey up Pez, I would like to say rock on and buy it but that does seem very expensive, the way the market is at the mo you could get alot for 6 grand. I would try and knock him down some and buy it!! Dont part ex with him because you are been seen of with 1600 quid, he wont be interested with all that you have done to it, its just another scooby. Swap all the parts you want off yours on to the yellow one and then sell on your one on with not as high spec. Winner!
kevlorn Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 i'll give you £1650 for it ....... dealer/traders give you fck all for any car...better of selling private if you can..not always possible but you'll get a better price for it....took me 2 months to sell mine..

I have also had a look at that one m8, and am in a similar position to you, but after a lot of thought I have decided with the current climate and all that a type r will de-value quickly, and wouldn't get much for mine so I have decided that the type r will have to wait. Besides your car looks great Hope you figure what to do m8, good luck....
pezza_no1 Posted February 3, 2009 Author Posted February 3, 2009 Well I don't think I'm gonna part-x it, just way too low price. Can I afford to buy it out right tho is the question and at what price. It is a bit on the high side but how many yellow type-r's do you see about. Am keeping my eye on a couple of others I've found as well and to be fair they're all around the 5-6k mark. I do luv my scooby to bits, and it does look pretty mean and sounds nice but just to get the engine 'properly' up together I'm looking at about a grand, then there's a few other bit n bob's that still need doing which would cost another grand or so... Money which would be better spent towards a new motor, one without all the little annoying bits that need putting right. I know it's the annoying bits that makes owning the car 'enjoyable' but I've already spent nearly double on it what I was planning to so think it's time just to cut my losses and move on! Think if I can get them down a bit more then I may just go for it, and yeah keep my one until i sell it privately or something.... Decisions decisions, decisions...!

Spend the 2 grand on yours and be more financially better off. youd be absolutely stupid to pay 5 or 6 grand for a Yellow Type R regardless!! ITS NOT WORTH THAT MONEY at the moment.
