The rear setup has worn on my pug (leans to one side - a lot!) and rather than repair it ive got hold of a complete rear assembly from another, only problem is that it has been lowered 60mm / 2 splines? (too low, i know, getting old). Does any one know how to adjust the torson bars to bring it back up, by one 1 spline (30mm)?. Seemingly it was all adjusted last yeaar, so should be easy enough to remove and adjust bits? Il have the assmebly on my trailer so can take it round anywhere for someone to have a go (and knows what they are doing!) Edited November 17, 2008 by Smiler AS

IIRC you need to pull the bars out and rotate them in order to raise/lower them. It's meant to be a complete b*tch of a job to do though (might not be so bad if it was done last year though like you say). Might be worth hanging about the local car parks and finding some guy with a lowered Pug/Saxo and asking him where he got it done to see if there is someone local that can fiddle with it for you

Says the guy who had a thread on here the ohter week askin if he should lower the scoob any more after fitting adjustable coilovers I've "seen" the torsion bar under the puglets but never played with one so dunno how to go about it... p10ant Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 It's not to bad a job to do, made easier if it was only done a year ago as everything should still be freed off!. Its done by measuring not spline, the spline method can result in a twisted ARB. Jack the car up and remove both wheels, undo both lower shock mounts. Measure the height from a reference point in the wheel arch to the hub, unbolt the bracket securing the flex and the torx bolt in the end of the torsion bar, under the torx bolt there is an ecentric washer that has to be twisted round to be removed. Then it a case of removing the torsion bars with a slide hammer, plenty of WD40 or if they're really tight some heat. Once the bars are out, is a case of remeasuring to the height that you want and reinserting the bars and putting it back together. Remember to double check your measurments. Once you start doing it it will become obvious what you need to do, the hard part is removing the bars. I may have missed something as its been at least 5 years since i've done one but that is the basics, This method is for the beam on the car. Cheers, Paul T.

The pug is the comfort car I use for going up country, building sites and to work and probably going to be in the snow too. Il try asking a few of the local young kids too.
