2087
no fuel been in the system for about 6 months. Been advised i should crank the engine with the spark plugs disconnected (to allow fuel to get through the injectors and into the system) then re apply the sparks to get a light. this good advice or rubbish? Can i just reconnect the lot n it will eventually feed fuel through after a few 20-30 second bursts? Link to comment
terzo neil
just turn on the ignition when you hear the pump prime up, do this a few times and you'll be fine to start it Link to comment

fraser_allan
Also a good idea to do this after a rebuild to get the oil round the engine before rinning it. Fraz. Link to comment

colin_ross
Also a good idea to do this after a rebuild to get the oil round the engine before rinning it. Fraz. As above, leave the crank sensor disconnected and crank it until the oil pressure light goes out. Was the fuel drained from the system and if so why? Also is the fuel fresh or 6 months old? johnnyr6
I take it this is after your rebuild. If so the fuel is not an issue it's the oil that is. You don't want to start a freshly built engine with no oil pressure. I would ( if possible) keep the plugs out, disconnect the crank sensor and turn it over until the oil pressure light goes out. At the very least disconnect the crank sensor and as playsatan says crank it till the oil light goes out. Johnny Link to comment
man-with-men
The best thing you can do is this when starting your car 1. Open the door 2. Sit in the seat and make yourself feel most comofrtable 3. Put on your seatbelt 4. Place the key in the ignition 5. Ensure it is out of gear 6. Start the engine 7. Drive away after selecting gear and checking your mirrors If this simple process doesnt work you could always slump back into your living room setee, unbuckle your trousers, kick your legs over your head and smoke your own rod. Hope this helps, best regards Man-With-men Link to comment
