Bought My New Car

Well, after selling the scoob, I was looking into buying a TVR Chimaera. I went to look at loads looking for a good one, but every single one seems to be a complete dog!. I guess I've been spoilt by the build quality of Japanese cars over the years. They rattle, they stink of mould, they are shockingly badly built, from a distance, they give quite a good impression, up close however, I had no idea how bad they were.

I then went to look at a Porsche Boxster (yes I know, a moment of madness). I joined a forum to read up on the car. All I asked was how they thought the Boxster would compare to my previous cars, (Supra, Impreza, Mr2 turbo etc etc) and they stereotyped me into a miscreant boyracer. Within seconds of my first post, a boxster owner comes along and says that the Porsche badge is being dragged down by people like me. So, I immediatly stereotyped right back and formed the opinion that all Porsche drivers are C***S. Safe to say, I don't post on there anymore.

So, Yesterday I jumped back on the jap scene and picked this little number up. :D

I got an absolute steal (its a proper buyers market at the moment) I knocked £1500 off the asking price and got it for 8K.!!

This now leaves me with some money to play with. Wheels first me thinks. B)

My wife would like one of those but in Blue to compliment my Subaru. She likes the red interior.

As Daz has said they are almost bullet proof if serviced.

Lovely screem from the engine but you do have to keep the rev's high. B)

Great fun, enjoy :D

They don't do the blue with red interior. Only silver and black.

Nice mate, someone at work has got one and has just had all the suspension apart, moving parts greased, alignment done etc and reckons there is a vast improvement. Not very exciting but I'd ask about that first. Love people that stereotype, had a few people tell me I don't look like a subaru driver whatever that means??!??!!?

Yeah, I've read about the adjustment bolts seizing in their carriers. If they snap then all lower arms need replacing and a bill of up to 2.5k is to be expected.

I don't think mine have been done, but the tyres are wearing evenly across the board so don't see the need to mess with the alignment any time soon. Steering wheel is also perfectly straight and the original wheels have never been kerbed so it should all be good under there.

I have some plans for her already seeing as I have about £1500 to play with. She needs a few cosmetic touches to bring her up to mint condition, then some nice staggered wheels (wider on rear) will follow. She'll then be dropped on tein springs with a buddy club dual exit exhaust. There are a few vids on youtube of aftermarket pipes on these things, my god they are loud!! Nothing like the sound of the deep rumbling scooby, more like a million angry bees :D

Nice motor mate B) I've got a soft spot for Hondas i'd probably have one if i didn't have a Scooby ;) there is so much you can do to them and the VTEC engines are amazing! I totally agree with everyone that Porsche drivers are stuck up t**ts and blokes that drive Boxters are gay! I love pi**ing them off by beating them in the scoob its that element of shock on they're faces that make me laugh!

Dont post this on Scoobynet,

You'll get no end of comments about Vidal Sassoon tuning parts.

This is the same engine as the Civic R?? I found it hard to get used to, for the short time I test drove one. You have to really rev it, which you can't do on most town roads.

Have to admit that I am weighing up getting rid of the wagon for a Boxster but having read all the comments I think I may go for my prefered choice of a Spec D and get the PPP added.

Don't think so mate, the engine in the s2000 is bespoke to the car. Don't get me wrong, its typically VTEC. You have to rev the living **** out of it to make it do anything. Flip side is though that slow town driving is a pleasure.
