rosshendry23 Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I know u prob all know about this. When i park in Tesco (Elgin) and close to police station my car is as good as dead. I have to type in code with door open etc.. to get car to start. Was bit of night mare on first occasion as i had to push the car to the other side of the road to get it to start first week after i bought it as i didn't have the code. bit of a pain. Is there any way that this interference can be stopped or is it just best to avoid these areas. Any other places to avoid parking please warn me.
scouk Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 (edited) First off.. WELCOME to the site! Sadly, that's normal... And' most of us have been there... It's to do with the alarm system being nuked when your are near radio transmitters.. In the case of Elgin, Near the main entrance is a no go, I tend to park roudn the side where it's better.. Also the Car park next to TK-Max is a sod as it's so near the police transmitters.. Same problem.. Grrr! Some parts of the main carpark at the public hall is also dodgy.. Holding the keyfob nest to the drivers front wing or near the center of the dash can help but doesn't always work.. Only alternatives are as you've found, roll the car a couple of car lengths to get to a "open spot" in the radio wave, or use the pin code.. If you don't know your pin code you can re-set it if you have a working keyfob... I know it doesn't help the problem, but I've been there a few times before... Damn annoying.. P.s. Great choice of car and colour! I can barely remember when mine looked like that but do remember saying I wasn't going to mod it Edited September 6, 2008 by ScoUK
rosshendry23 Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 cheers thought that was case. Have a few little tweaks in mind for car. mainly cosmetic though. Don't want to knacker the car with a re-map. Has 73000 on clock so not sure if it would be good idea. recently spent 460 on service at Glenburgie-subaru. Sare one like. new belts and tensioner was included like. nae sure if a was bumped or not.

scouk Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Right, seeing as us lot are here, head over to this thread in the general forum and put your name on the list Red Mica Roll Call: http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=121321
thefastone Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 In answer to your first question, is that you CAN get it fixed, from Subaru, but it costs about £70... (think thats fitted) you basicly buy the Screened alarm unit... and that should solve your problems, think that it affected up to the 01-02 cars, so I have the same problem Ive just never got round to getting the newer unit. and yeah, Nice choice if colour!

Maybe there's a DIY fix as £70 is a bit steep and yeah, Nice choice if colour! Every post on this thread is from a red mica owner... Quality! We'll have to start our own club at this rate
