Hi All,

Looking for some new tyres for my 8x18 Speedlines, I have looked at the semi slick Bridgstone Potenza but would like some expert opinion before I make my purchase. What's your thoughts one and all - can you give me some pointers???

Cheers

Gary

Popular tyres are toyo t1r's or goodyear eagle F1's; £105 per corner is a good price. These are decent all round tyres

semi slicks = Toyo 888 but your looking at £170 - £180 per corner and also 4000 miles

If i had the dosh 888 all day long as the grip is amazing, in the dry :D

I don't personally like Bridgestone's, but that's just an opinion. As has been said, the new Goodyear F1 Asymetric tyre is good, and I can get them fitted for £98 plus VAT per tyre, but unfortunately that's no use to you being down in Duns. Blackcircles do them at that price, but a good consideration is the Yokohama Parada Spec2 tyre, which Blackcircles is doing for £102 fitted including VAT. I have these on my Legacy RS in a 215/40R17, and so far have been excellent.

depends on what your using them for,in the dry grip is ridiculous and in the wet not as bad as youd think. my 05 sti came with them then i had eagles now t1r's and going back to eagles, amazing in the wet, nice and progressive in the dry

What about Vredesteins, not many people talk about them but damn good tyre, dry, wet and for wear.

I noticed a good difference going from OEM Bridgestones to them.

Think there was a post about them a few month ago.

Personally TOYO every time for me, if you can get them - AVON do a good tyre now too tho

www.tyreshopper.co.uk for prices - they are great...

Sorry to hijack....but is there anywhere that would fit tyres for you if you've already bought them from

someone else?

For example....Eagle Asymmetric 215/45/17 on Tyreshopper come in at £396 fully fitted.

Camskill sell 4 tyres for £340 (tyres only)

Would the difference be made up by what a garage would charge for fitting?

Richie try Mercury Autos in Hillington does fitting for mytyres.com. Decent bloke got him to rotate my tyres to stop uneven wearing.

I could be above average here, but I would guess the minimum to pay for a tyre fitting, quality wheel balance, new valve and waste tyre disposal would be at least £10+VAT per tyre. I think Black Circles pay their dealers £12+VAT per tyre for this service.

Edit, I've just checked my suppliers, and I can't find a listing at the moment for Asymetric Goodyear F1's, but I can do a set of the older F1 GSD3 Extra Loads pattern for £365 including VAT fully fitted.

I have Parada Spec 2 tyres, on my spare set of wheels and Toyos Tr1s on my race set and both good tyres in my oppinion are quality just make sure you put some miles on them before you start boosting about, especially if you go on the track.... I learnt the hard way lol...I wanted the R888 howeved did not do them in the size i wanted.

I got both set's of Tyres from Skidz in falkirk.
