Hello, after having my Loverly Car for about 4 years now,

im coming to the point that i would like More HORSES...

Now ive had a few people tell me this, tell me that,

So im starting a thread so people can write it down & i wont forget it... :D

Now im running a U.K SPEC '94 has be restricted in everyway me thinks,

it popped out the garage with around 208 BHP.. back in 1994.

in 2006 it was running a STAGERING 230 BHP (decate & samco turbo pipe)

Now i want to have about 280 BHP maybe 300 BHP.

all i can tell you about my car is that its STANDARD, no engine mods what so ever (apart from SAMCO PIPEING, in places)

Q.1 What will i need?

Q.2 How much will each item cost/ it all cost.

Q.3 does anyone have these parts...

Full decat £ 500 if you shop around

Induction kit £ 80 for a half decent one

Bigger inj £ 150 ish

Bigger turbo as you should have a td04 £ 200-400 depending on what you get

Remap £ ask Jolly Green Monster as to what is best for your model

Should net you 300-330 bhp

all the best

What ever you spend, you'll never get your money back, I speak from experience.

You could sell what you have and buy an equivalent Jap import STI that depending on spec will already be running as standard 280 - 300 BHP.

Or buy a modified one and save thousands.

i know, ive spent £6k on the ENGINE & GEARBOX alone, in 3 years, i only bought the car for £6k,

alone with replacing all stolen body parts (another £1k min)

Im never going get my money back,

But this was i know the cars history & i know what ive done & where its been.

dont i need a ECU??

aswell

as mine is NOT MAPPABLE??

Used to have a UK94 wagon myself. The ECU IIRC isn't mappable itself, but you used to be able to get add on boards for them, not sure if this is still possible.

I put a full decat on mine, induction kit and a dawes device to screw the boost up a bit (you can only go as high as the fuel cut limit unless you put a dawes on it as well... I didn't). Mine made ~289bhp IIRC on Star Performances RR in Fife. The 94 had a TD05 turbo, so it's a bit all or nothing as far as being on boost

I agree if you want to modify Id have bought 1 semi modded already just to save money, but at the end of the day its your car and money. for a few hundreed quid and a rolling session you could have a sweet bhp improvement and a quicker 0-60 time just to really piss off that saxo sitting behind you at the lights lol ( dont you love the sound of a 1.6 banging on the limiter just to keep up with you just as your comming ont of 2nd gear)

sorry but like i quoted/posted before, i bout the car £6k it was body work sound

gearbox & engine have been rebuilt NOW £6k

plus body work stuff ive bought & had stolen & bought again,

Dont want to buy another car £5-£6k lose £10k on the car ive got knowing its a SOLID car

i may get one with MORE BHP but the ENGINE & GEARBOX may go & im out of pocket £6k again.

i feel that paying another £1k ish!!! will be better for me??

Hi Baz when i got my93 it was standered. So i changed the ecu for a Z4,changed the air filter and the fuel pump for a walbro 255 and put on a fall decat exhurst. I was told by the guys at power engineering if i made those small changes i would be looking at around 280 -285 bhp. Since doing this my scoob feels so much alive now!!!

To do these mod's it does'nt cost that much if you shop around. For the Z4 your looking at £100 for a second hand one and this can be remapped for about £500 ish coz i've already spoke to Jolly Green. The walbro 255 is about £70 - £80 and the air filter i think i payed about £25.

I hope this helps mate.

standard ecu is mappable via a daughter board.. or Apexi powerFC or Simtek etc..

I happen to have a secondhand Apexi PowerFC in stock :D

decat and remap should see 290~300..

Add injectors and boost controller / map sensor and front mount intercooler and you can see upto 320~330..

On my '98 classic I had full decat, K&N indction kit, uprated fuel pump and pressure regulator and had a Power Engineering ECU and mine was making 291bhp and 289lbs/ft, this was a 'safe' map as I had a compression problem with one of the pistons (no.3 I think - fuelling?). I also had a bigger top mount from an sti6 and the solid alloy y-piece for it. I got most of the bits 2nd hand and came out of it with plenty of change from 2k, and even got flames without the need for a flamer kit :D
