Andy F Map Queries

ok guys quick summary some might know recently i had head gasket troubles and also replaced the turbo. previous to this i was running around 290 bhp with 301ft/lbs torque thanks to Andy and the supporting mods. well since i got the car back after being fixed it seems the old power jsut isnt there and there is a ton of lag then pretty much nothing else.

i replaced a td04 for a td04 so thought everthing would be hunky dory. the turbo however seems to want to start to spool just under 2k where before it was just after. does this mean that the actuater arm is the problem as the ecu was mapped to (although same pt no.) a different turbo??? and is not trueing up with what the ecu is telling it? or am i way off the mark?

cant think what else would be the problem as the dump valve isnt blocked leaking etc. its weird as if the cars choking, it stupid to put a figure on it but it feels like its lost 20bhp or something i know that sounds stupid but its lost the kick as where before you would dump the gas wait a second on the lag then whoosh. now it just seems like it shrugs it shoulders a bit then start to jog abit before i have to change gear lol.

basically is this something andy could remedy ie have a look at the map (if it needs matched up again)

or is it something totally diffent as i know the guys busy and dont want to waste his time.

Billy, I'd send Andy an e-mail explaining this to him to see what he says. It could be marginal differences in how the car runs with the turbo and the head-gasket being replaced, so a tweak might sort it out. Andy will advise you best.

Hope you get it sorted, seems like you have been getting a lot of niggles with it lately. Any word on the Tein situation?

nope no gauges unfortunately. this would obviously have come in handy.

yeah john i'm pulling my hair out with out right now, jus an other in a long list. need to order a full new set as the wont honour any warranty (fair enough) and the don't supply single springs.

dnt think its the timing as it idles fine etc. the car still has two maps and there is an evident change when you switch between the two. bad to worse lol

If you still have the original turbo, can you swap over the boost control pipework to the new one (small bore pipes from turbo outlet to wastegate actuator) the restrictor size may be wrong, or even missing on your current turbo.

If that doesn't change anything then I really need to know what its currently boosting to in order to search in the right area.

cheers

Andy.

i got the turbo from welsho, it was from his 06 wrx, would there be an inherent (spelling?) differnce?

could someone please post a picture of said pipework as i have no idea. would this be easy to do myself?

going to the dominican for two weeks this weekend, so i will probably ressurect this post when i am back if no one can help the now.

the cars running so i am not crying about it just now, just annoying more than anything.

i'll buy gauges when i get back so we can see what its boosting, though i defo think its something to do with the turbo as its defo trying to spool up earlier with less effect if you know what i mean
