pistonbroke2 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 It has been brought to my attention that Police Forces have cottoned on to a little scam that people have been getting involved in. They have found that motoring enthusiasts (specifically high performance import vehicles) have been avoiding high insurance premiums and vehicle excise license by registering their car in France, not only that but they are avoiding prosecution for any speeding fines or parking contraventions by doing so. They have found several cars and owners which have done this and the owners are now facing some serious charges. If any of you think about doing it, or 'know a bloke down the pub' who offers this, then steer well clear. The DVLA are soon to be amalgamating their database with all EU countries to share all vehicle details so you will land well and truly in the brown stuff if you try it. Just thought you should know.

Been like that for years and the police have already been working with the eu to set up a data base for offenders, my old work van was on this list 4 yrs ago when i was a continental courier and my old boss who has houses in France and registered his cars there has had several fines already lol Thy will get you no matter what but enforcing the fines etc abroad is the problem at the moment, foreign police dont have to do anything about it and they also have different views on what they will pull you for !!!! In germany for instance if you are caught drink driving they will follow you home to make sure you get home save if not pissed lol Tony
