Guest Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I bought my car about 6 weeks ago and it had just had uprated godspeed brake disks fitted. They have now done about 1000 miles and they are warped to death but only noticeable under hard breaking. I phoned godspeed and they want me to post the disks down for inspection why should i pay the postage when there product is at fault? It is my only car i need it every day so sending the disks away is not realy viable should i ask godspeed if i can let somewhere like AWD to check them for a proffesional opinion? any other options?
sKunk Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) I have GS 2 piece disks and the left one is warped, as you said, only noticeable under hard braking. I was to lazy to change them and have lived with it. Although to be honest, because it's only under hard braking I have wondered if it was something else but I have changed the suspension and wheels since then and the high speed wheel and pedal judder is still there under braking. Mike M Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I bought rear didscs 6 months ago as they had a 12 month anti warping guarantee, they're now warped and I'll need to contact him, but I do find him very hard to get hold of. If he wants the discs back that'll be a big problem as my car is my daily driver!!!

Mine are 2 piece aswell mate not sure if it is a single side or both disks and doubt it is anything else. I also have the grooved only ones which are for higher temperatures and less likely to warp allegidly

They caused pedal and wheel judder under braking at high speed from the moment they were put on. I took my car to a specialist for their opinion and was told it was all in my head, that was what high-spec disks did. I wasn't convinced but that gave me enough doubt to look elsewhere for the issue (water in the tyres etc...), but having changed most of the front end of the car the issue is still there and I'm pretty sure it's the brakes. I decided to save for an AP kit.... not sure if I'll make it but that's the plan now.

steveo_8 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 my brother has had the same problem with this on his evo he is on the seconf set and they are also warpped!!! All you can do is send them back. the more i read about this problem the more iam put off from getting a set!!!
thewelsho Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 How much is a set of Standard Brembo discs, or at least the ones that come with the STi cars that are fitted with Brembo calipers. I have a 2nd hand set that have seen several track days and they are still going strong - no complaints from me at all. I think when the time comes, I'll be looking to get a set of these. So if anyone knows how much they are, please let me know
Guest Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 It has been suggested i may have a knackered ball joint as my tyre is excessivly worn on the outside of the nearside tyre. It's a full service on friday anyway so going to fit new ball joints to see if this helps at all i will let u know of the result. The disks were 650 quid, one would hope they last more than 1000 miles. Because they are 2 piece can i just get the braking surface part from anywhere?
Guest Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 put this up on Scoobynet aswell see the reply from Godspeed themselves seems fair to me http://bbs.scoobynet.com/wheels-tyres-brak...tml#post7992005

euan_r Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 ive got the two piece discs and had a wee bit judder but greasing the pistons cured it. i did however have to get new bolts/nuts to hold disc on to bell after one dissapeared. folk say he is hard and difficult to get hold of but not had any bother myself.

It is like he is being a bit blunt although i was accusing him of selling crap stuff i would have probably have given a similar supply. Jacked my car up earlier and one of the calipers is sticking so another job for friday while the cambelt is getting done. The list is getting longer by the day ggrrr
jimser Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 over the years ian has sold plenty of brake kits, discs, pads etc with not much complaint! and if there has been a fault he would rectify it without question so he was probably a bit p***ed off at the accusation of selling $hite.1 or 2 had the guy hanged before the jury had even taken to their seats
