scoob fae ork Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 (edited) Had a shot of my mates 2004 Evo 8 MR FQ340 last night jesus what a car it was some responsive it picks up around 1000 rpm faster than the Scoob and it sticks to the road like Kitten poop to the livingroom carpet. Its a far more hardcore car than the Scoob but i dont think i could live with the Evo as its very hard on the road its noisy the whole time and it drinks like an alchoholic fish, but i do like it very much indeed just not enough to convert from Scoobys , Its comming up for sale soon if anyone is intrested its full service history and has only covered around 23000 miles and it is in very good condition Edited July 4, 2008 by Scoob Fae Ork
sparky_sj04 Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 Away off to the Lancer register.... I don't mind Evos but i'm not going to big them up on the most common scottish scooby forum.. that's ridiculous...

jimser Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 Im not bigging up the Evo just giving my oppinion am a proud Scooby owner and with any luck always will be nothing wrong with bigging up evo's mate, out the factory they're probably better cars than scoobys! you dont find them rushing out to buy arb's,springs, droplinks etc but then they have a load of other sh*t to keep them on the road wth the engine being too far forward. also less £ to make them go faster spec c's rule though

It's some money for the Hawk eyes but they're just soo nice and fast the biggest problem with me buying one is my fiance just says NOOOO
sparky_sj04 Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Not very nice I do apologise if i've hurt anyones feelings.... i didn't realise this was primary school... and also (wrongly it seems) thought we were all entitled to our opinions... I'll let the experts do the talking from now on eh......
sparky_sj04 Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Im not bigging up the Evo just giving my oppinion am a proud Scooby owner and with any luck always will be Not having a go mate.. But with the pictures of the engine bay etc. it looked a bit like a blatant for sale advert.. and i was just out the pub..

But with the pictures of the engine bay etc. it looked a bit like a blatant for sale advert.. and i was just out the pub.. Na mate its not a sale advert anyway. All i wanted to say is after all the years i spent slagging Evos off they're not that bad after all but the Scoob will always be the car for me it has alot more class than the Evo also a burble, better looks, more comfort oh and a burble .
P1_Paul Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Back on topic, as said previously, you don't have to leave Scooby ownership to get the same turn in and low down pull of an EVO! The only EVO's i'd consider would be a IX GT or MR IX RS, serious machines!
craig79 Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Nice wee write up mate, would be my evo of choice if/when funds allow. Unlike you tho I've not had a shotty yet. You certainly sound like everyone I'm talking to re. them; they pack a big punch performance / handling wise but a bit too hardcore for run of the mill driving. Craig.

In the Scoob a 500 mile drive would not be a hard thing to do as i'v done it i was not tired in anyway after the drive just hungry but after a 20 min blast in the Evo i was starting to feel tired and also my mate who owns the Evo had a shot of my Scoob and his very words were yup this is very nice i could live with this also he is begging me for another shot. Think i might of converted him

scoob fae ork Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 thats a smart looking evo but the other day i was cruising aroung in the Scoob and hearing the echo from the flat 4 off the buildings reminded me of one of the reasons why scoobys stand out so much.
C_WRX Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Nice wee write up. Like quite a few people likely I considered an Evo when deciding on my new car but for much same reasons as you've noted just didn't feel or hear about it being an enjoyable every day distance car (at time I was travelling 70 miles a day). Purchase cost also came in to it ! Still think they are nice cars but I am more than happy about choosing my Scoob
dan_jess Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Nice looking car, tho i dont think Silver is a good colour for the Evo, gunmetal and red look great . I like to hear peoples experiences with other cars. The majority of us on here are performance car enthusiasts first not just about Scoobies. I cant be bothered with badge snobbery. It would be boring if you went to a car show and just paid attention to Impreza's. Is the car standard?
dan_jess Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I have taken a liking to white Evo 5's at the moment, i think they look brilliant. The newer shape Evos dont look as aggresive when they are standard, but when there lowered with nice rims then you really notice how much the arches flare out

He owned an Evo 5 before this car and he had no end of trouble with it the car was off the road more than it was on with all its problems
emoe Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I owned a Silver EVO VI for a few years, was altered with roll cage, and various other gubbins, and used it for racing. As a standard car up against a standard scooby, i would say the scooby is the car you need if you are going to use it every day on the road. If you want an excellent track day tool then get the EVo. at the end of the day its horses for courses!! Mitsibushi already make a Lancer Gt for the road, and their EVO is just literally for HOLOMOGATION reasons, to get them out in the population. Why people who drive scoobys have to slag off EVO owners i dont know, and yes, EVO owners do it to Scooby owners too!! Both cars are VERY VERY good vehicles to own. Yes theres some rivalry in the Rally scene but then i dont hear so much slagging of the Focus RS or Skoda, or any of the other Rally Car manufacturers. IMHO there are things on the EVO that are good, there are things on the Subaru that are good, and to be honest the Modifications we do to the cars WE own is what makes them individual! EvOs have their place!

dan_jess Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Thats not so good then, just a bad example of a 5 i guess, my mate had a yellow 5 and it was ballistic, no problems until a woman didnt see hime coming, pulled out a junction and he t-boned her. A sad end to a nice car

A sad end to a nice car Ooh that is a shame me pal did like the 5 as it was terrifyingly fast and it cornered really really well and with the white paint every time you got out the car you looked at it with a big and said like a little school boy wow i was just in an Evo
