craig-A Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I was down at Anglesey yesterday for a track day care of bookatrack, had a great day on a fantastic circuit. During the day i did notice the near side front wheel was a significantly hotter than the other front wheel and put it down to it being a clockwise track, i.e. the nearside works harder than the offside, after a five hour motorway journey home the nearside whell and disc were still hotter than the offside. When i changed the pads i did notice the the nearside pads were slightly more worn than the offside. Is this a sticky caliper! Is it an easy fix, strip down re-build?

euan_r Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 usually just one or two pistons become sticky. when fitting new pads did you notice if any piston wasnt as easy to push back. compare pads as a caliper set and see if they are worn parallel or lop sided, not between offside and nearside.

euan_r Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 iirc one piston was a little difficult push back and the pad was worn a little lop sided, kinda wedge shaped, that could be the culprit then, i take it you can get re-furb kits from Subaru no problem? sounds like that will be the one. tbh its hard to tell over forums as its a lot to do with feel. im guessing its four pots you have so you will get seal kit from subaru. i dont think they do pistons but you can get stainless steel ones from other sources but as piston was just a wee bit difficult you should be able to clean up original. get some red rubber grease too, its quite expensive for what it is but is very good. keeps it lubricated and prevents brake fluid swelling the seals.
