Thats me had the scoob over three years, never had any problem ever..............

been for sale for a wee while now and i think the big end bearing is away :)

Its a P1, was for sale on this site.

Looking for best options for repair? Taking into account the car will still be up for sale when repaired or i'd be dropping in the 2.5!

Options i see are,

second hand engine,

getting engine rebuilt with new/second hand bits?

I'm central region and the car is serviced at Hypertech. They do this work? Would they collect car?

I heard newmarket engineering in stir are good but not sure what they do exactly. If thats the correct name.

Other places?

Just looking to see what folks think would be best or what others had done in same situation.

cheers Brian

Thats not good to hear mate. Why dont you try selling it damaged? Then you dont need to fork out any money and whoever buys it can spec the engine the way they would want to.

Sorry to hear this Brian. Dunc at hypertech will be able to sort you out. I dont know if he has a trailer to pick your car up but maybe somebody on here could help you out with getting it through to him. I am sure the more technically minded will be along to help you out with your options.

its always the same Paul eh. Just when selling you get a problem. Would have been a shame for someone else to have bought it though and for this to have happened to them. I'd have been raging if it was me!

I thought about selling it without fixing as this would allow someone to get an engine spec they wanted but think it would still be hard to find a buyer.

Anyone interested can say though lol.

If had the money i'd go crazy wi the spec :)

Duncan is currently rebuilding mine. Had a bit of a dilemma as which way to go, ended up buying second-hand block (Thanks Braveheart) and I'll rebuild mine later.

If your selling the car cheapest option second-hand block but engine number will have to be changed on V5 to match and your on a semi-closed deck which will be harder to find.

Whats a semi closed deck mean? doh lol

There are water channels round the cylinders to help cooling. Open deck is the norm but for extra strength these are closed or semi closed. The extra strength is required for higher boost engines as the cylinders can move with the increased pressure.

Plenty of info on this subject on the internet.

Best is the closed deck but know of an open deck running 550 bhp.

Yeah standard P1 block is defo open deck.

I'd try pistonheads selling it as is. Lots of people outh there would be willing to take it on at the right price. As previous posts people would rather build their own engine to their specs

not sure how much. not really thought yet. How would i know what was wrong with it to set a price?

would have no idea of cost to fix it back to standard spec? any ideas?

I'd like to be fair obviously. Car was up for 11500 before. Add will still be in the for sale forum to see spec before problems.
