har Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 will a set of 2004 wrx alloys 5x100 fit on my 1996 wrx import with 225/45/17 tyres
seafar99 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 The alloys will fit but your more than likely going to have rubbing issues with the (225) width tyre. Better off with 215/45/17.

gus the bus Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 do you not need 40 profile tyres to fit the classics?
frank c Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 do you not need 40 profile tyres to fit the classics? Both the 40 and 45's fit ok Gus
har Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Both the 40 and 45's fit ok Gus so will they not fit with the 225/45/17 tyres
gus the bus Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Both the 40 and 45's fit ok Gus Aye, but not 45's if its lowered Frank
gus the bus Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 (edited) so will they not fit with the 225/45/17 tyres Har I doubt if a tyre as wide as 225 will fit. Poss the 215's as Craig has stated above. Has the car been lowered? If so I'd go with 215/40's to be on the safe side. Gus Edited June 1, 2008 by Gus the Bus
frank c Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Can't say i've ever heard of that size on a classic before mate and i've never tried it. As said above - you'll probably/certainly encounter major rubbing issues with them .. Sorry i can't be more helpful ..
frank c Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Aye, but not 45's if its lowered Frank My mates running the 45's with Eibachs Gus and he doesn't have any problems. In saying that , the Eibachs don't really lower it by that much right enough..

More the 225/45 issue Frank I tried my Newage wheels on the 555 with that width of tyre and eh, it was right on the arch liner
frank c Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 What if people use the R888's which come in 215/45/17 and the car is lowered , what's the cure . Rolled arches ?
euan_r Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 the 40/45 bit is a percentage based on width. running 215/45/17 with absolutely no chance of rubbing on eibachs. actually raised my rear end as original springs must have been very tired. 225/45/17 i would be crossing my fingers but they could well fit, depends how hard its pushed round corners and height springs give. someone else will have bound to have tried it before.

Euan as above, tried the 225/45 nae gid . 215/45 may well be ok but I aint tried them. Gus
har Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Euan as above, tried the 225/45 nae gid . 215/45 may well be ok but I aint tried them. Gus nae bother i will stick with 215 tyres, just that i had a chance of these new age wheels with tyres but i will look for sommit else, cheers for the help
gus the bus Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 (edited) They will fit mate i had that size on my classic before i changed the wheels ran newage wrx alloys 225/45/17 no probsGordy Gordy the WRX wheels a slightly different offset to the Sti wheels? It was the newage Sti wheels with 225/45/17's that wouldnt go on my 555. That willbe where the difference lies my bad Edited June 1, 2008 by Gus the Bus
euan_r Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 i think it will depend on make of springs. kenning gus he would have hid whiteline springs.

A did but as above Euan it was the Sti wheels rather than the WRX I tried on the 555 thats where I think the difference lies. Har, try before you buy? Gus Edited June 1, 2008 by Gus the Bus
st3ph3n Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I thought the WRX had 215/45/17 and the STI had 225/45/17 for the newages?
gus the bus Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I thought the WRX had 215/45/17 and the STI had 225/45/17 for the newages? Yip St3ph3n they did. Owner obviously upped to the wider tyre
st3ph3n Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Maybe they decided RE050 wasn't slippy enough in the rain so went for the RE070 instead
