Body Inspection At Main Dealers

The sti is booked in next week for its 1 year service & was told it needed a body inspection service as well, is this really needed as it hasn't done 8K yet & has little or no stone chips ? Is it just a money maker for T & C ? :D

Do you need to pay for those?

I thought there were just to let dealers wriggle of out honoring body warranty claims?

Yes they do charge for it, just can't remember how much

Body warranty doesn't cover stone chips, when I got it done at S&S last year I asked as had a deep chip on the door pillar that had a touch of rust. Was advised this wasn't covered as it is purely paint defects. They did some undersealing which stank for a couple of weeks.

Think I was £100, don't think it affects the main warranty if you don't get it done.

Mark had mine serviced and nothing mentioned about this at all. In fact I've never had a body inspection done at a dealer and that is with 4 new Scoobs over 8 years

My last scoob never had any bodywork inspections done (at least no stamps for it) and by the time I got shot of it there was a spot or two of rust developing on it.

The Body Inspection (Service) is for your 3 year corrosion warranty. You are recommended to get this done at the 1st and 3 year, then every year after that if you wish. Is it worth it? Well I would say yes if you plan to keep the car for a good length of time, if not you are paying the privilege for the next owner. Of course stone chips etc are 'self inflicted' so would go against a warranty claim. As well as checking all panels, underseal etc., they spray (waxoyl???) inside all the panels which smells for a week or two.
