Cret Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Short week? Not sweet. Monday morning and I'm full of a cold.
andy_bray Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Morning dudes, Jim the legacy is working again, it was the fuel pump that had gone..£355.pounds ouch!!!
heazille Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 << Short week? >> Margys birthday this weekend, Taking her away, and it just happens to be only 140 miles from the Stelvio pass!!!! Guess where we gonna be going for a sunday drive!! Subject to the weather of course Ta Ta Richard
Cret Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 << Morning dudes, Jim the legacy is working again, it was the fuel pump that had gone..£355.pounds ouch!!! >> £355?! Did you get a diamond encrusted one fitted dude?!! That sounds pretty harsh being as you can get an uprated walbro one for less than a hundred quid and they only take an hour or so to change! Who was it that swapped it mate? I suppose genuine manufacturer parts tend to cost more but that sounds an awful lot. Need to find out real soon why mine is cutting out & stalling & not starting. It's either MAF or Ignition relay I'm sure but the ECU shows no error codes when I check the diagnostic connectors on it, and the only stored codes are 33 & 51 which are funny ones. NOT sweet - it conked out as I pulled out into the middle of busy Peel Road yesterday. << Margys birthday this weekend, Taking her away, and it just happens to be only 110 miles from the Stelvio pass!!!! >> Good stuff! Hope you have a sweet time dude!
Jimmy Mc Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Mine started stuttering occasionally, then wouldn't hold idle, cutting out all the time. CE light on lots. Got MAF replaced at Dangerfield's, then everything ran sweet.
Dave K Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Jim dude, you could also try the lambda sensor. Just fitted AFR to my car and found it was duff, yet no error codes!! Suspect it's been dead since I got the car as life span of sensor is 30-50k. Replaced with universal unit for £47, better than £150 OEM part. Car runs lot smoother and idles better, plus fuel consumption is better. To check you MAF run car till warm then unplug the connector on MAF whilst engine running, car should cut out, if it don?t its dirty or dead. You can also do the same with the Lambda sensor, unplug it and see how the car runs. As ecu does not get any faulty readings. It will either run smoother or run like a bag o'shite, if so put back on. Don?t run the car hard with the sensor off though, and keep an eye on KL.
Cret Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Cheers for the tips dudes! The finger of suspicion has mainly been pointing at the MAF as it did this a while ago, I cleaned it and the problem went away for several weeks. It's back now but whilst it's less frequent it's more severe when it does do it, plus cleaning the MAF has not helped this time. That's one reason why I think it could well be this mysterious ignition relay, another being that when it cuts out you can hear a relay clicking in the dash. Occasionally it cuts in & out several times a second and you can hear this relay clicking on & off like crazy. Not sure if the impreza has it possibly but I've heard many people citing this relay as the cause for a lot of probs similar to what the MAF causes. Be nice the replace all 3 bits but I suspect they ain't cheap..... Oh well, I know what I'll be asking for for me 30th then.
andy_bray Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Jim dude, the lego was down S.C.P at hills meadow, and he said that the new pump gen/ subaru one.
andy_bray Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Nick dude did you get my PM to you last week...
Cret Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 << Jim dude, the lego was down S.C.P at hills meadow, and he said that the new pump gen/ subaru one. >> Fair dues dude. At least it's sorted now! Think I'm going to be looking at a shopping list of the following bits though to really make sure mine's sorted: MAF O2 sensor Ignition Relay Plugs Bosch HEC-716 coils (if I can get them anywhere!) Dread to think what this little lot will come to but I'm tired of pissing about.
Dave K Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Try here dude for the Lambda Sensor its where I got mine. As for the Bosch Coils, you prob already found this, but looks like Australia is your best bet as most Holden commodores have the HEC-716 as standard part. Assuming you are doing the cut and fit mod with them? Bosch Ignition Coils Page 10 Injectacarb To order
Cret Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Cheers for the links dude! Have managed to score a set of these from an Aussie fella on the RSLiberty forum (source for nearly all my info for my uncommon chariot). Only thing is I'll have to wait a month or so but hopefully will be worth it as all of them down under recommend this mod to solve hesitation problems etc. Lambda is cheap! Reckon I'll order one on friday when I get paid!
heazille Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Mornin Dudes It's not raining! Hurrah Ta Ta Richard
